Cardi B slams Elon Musk after he labeled her a 'puppet' following teleprompter glitch

Cardi B slams Elon Musk after he labeled her a 'puppet' following teleprompter glitch

He thought her speech was insincere

Cardi B fired back at heavy criticism from the richest man in the world.

On Friday night, the Grammy-winning rapper showed up at a pro-Kamala Harris event in Milwaukee, where she took a stand against Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.

The X post that kickstarted the whole thing read: “Cardi B’s teleprompter was broken and she had no idea what to do for over a minute until someone ran on the stage to give her a phone to read off. Holy embarrassing.”

Billionaire Elon Musk then reposted the tweet sharing a snarky comment about Cardi B, calling her “another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words”.

The Tesla CEO added: "The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy."

The Grammy winner, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, didn't back down, however. She stood her ground and fired back: "I’m not a puppet Elon. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me!"

She also wrote: "I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8 (a federal program that assists low-income families, the disabled and elderly find affordable housing in the private sector,) I’m a product of poverty and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you."

The BET Awards winner then criticised Musk for being out of touch, saying: "But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle…." with an extra dig of: "PS fix my algorithm."

The following day, Cardi took to Instagram that her experience on the political stage felt like a "moment I’d been waiting for my whole life."

She continued: "If you know me you know I’m the biggest history nerd and I’ve been talking about politics on all my platforms for a long long time so this was a dream come true."

The 32-year-old also shared photos of herself on stage and with the candidate writing: "I’m so glad that I got to meet and learn so much from VP Kamala Harris," encouraging her fans to cast a vote for her.

In response to accusations of not being authentic and reading from her phone, she exclaimed: "AND YES!.. I wrote my speech down because I had to make sure I said everything I wanted to say honey!! I’m sooo proud of myself you don’t even know."

Fans of the musician showed their support on social media, writing: "The women in hip hop using their voices" and "You was made for politics and I knew you was going to give a great speech".

However, others sided with Musk claiming that her speech 'wasn't from the heart.'
