Some of us have been waiting an eternity for Apple's first folding iPhone, and with the Samsung Galaxy Fold coming out in 2019, it has a seven-year head start on its rival.
Much like we knew Grand Theft Auto VI was coming out years before it was officially revealed, the idea of a folding iPhone Ultra isn't exactly new.
Back at the start of 2024, we were reporting that Apple could be releasing a folding iPhone in 2026, and as we gallop toward this year's annual reveal of the next iPhone, it looks increasingly likely that the iPhone 18 lineup will be joined by a new member of the family.
Alongside leaked dummy models and explanations about why Touch ID might return, the biggest reveal is a potential price tag. We know the ongoing RAMageddon crisis has pushed up prices in the gaming world, with the Nintendo Switch 2 getting a price hike, and alongside President Trump's trade war, there are obvious fears about what future iPhones will cost.
What could the new iPhone Ultra cost?

If you were already balking at a potential $2,500 iPhone Ultra price tag, you ain't seen nothing yet. As shared on Reddit, Vodafone Egypt has potentially leaked the price of all new iPhones in 2026. Doubling down on the iPhone Ultra name, it's said to come in at 155,750 EGP, which works out to a jaw-dropping 3051 USD.
We can also expect the iPhone 18 Pro, as well as the 18 Pro Max, to come in at 98,000 EGP and 105,000 EGP (around $1919 USD and 2056 USD).
Before you resign yourselves to sticking with your trusty current model for another year, the OP notes that these prices don't necessarily reflect international prices in the likes of the USA.
It's said that Egypt adds around 38% to a phone's price for customs and taxes, meaning the 18 Pro and Pro Max would cost the same as their 17 counterparts did when released in 2025.
In terms of the iPhone Ultra, $2200 USD is similar to what we've heard before.
Still, others laughed off the idea, with one person responding: “2200 usd 'not that bad'? Lol."
Another mused: "Spending $2000 on a purchase that doesn't significantly improve your life is insane."
A third said: "2200 USD is very bad, more expensive then any other foldable haha."
Of course, we'll need to wait for an official to reveal to know what we're actually going to be stumping up.
When are we expecting a folding iPhone reveal?

After months of speculation, we're now told that the next iPhone reveal event will be on September 9, 2026.
Taking place in the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, Cupertino, California, viewers around the world will be able to tune in at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
Widely expected to reveal the iPhone 18, 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the iPhone Ultra, we've already been warned there may be no standard release in 2026.
Instead, we might only be getting the premium models this year, with the average iPhone 18 rolled over into 2027.
Alongside the latest batch of iPhones, other rumored product reveals include an Apple Watch Series 12 with a ceramic case option, an Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and much more.
If the potential launch of the iPhone Ultra didn't already have this feeling like the dawn of a new era, this will be the first keynote being headed up by new Apple CEO John Ternus.
