Last week, Apple announced its latest line of iPhones including the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, as well as its first ever foldable device known as the iPhone Duo.
This was part of the tech giant’s annual phone event, known this year as the ‘Surprise and shine’ event which took place last Wednesday (September 9).
There, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max to the world, which comes in four colors - black, silver, glacier, and burgundy.
Other products confirmed to be coming by the firm include the foldable iPhone Duo and the new Apple Watch Series 12.

There has also been a lot of talk about the pricing of Apple products, with its first folding phone coming in at $1,999, while the iPhone 18 Pro costs $1,199.
But those aren’t the only items to see a price hike from Apple as many people have been left surprised to discover that the iPhone 17 has also increased its price tag, despite being a device that Apple hasn’t changed since it was released last year.

Following the Apple event, the iPhone 17 jumped up by $100 in price, now costing $899.
This has prompted many people to take to social media to share their own reactions to the change, with one user writing on Reddit: “Lol shameless.”
Another said: “One more thing … Price of the brick going up.”
A third person commented: “Glad I helped someone pull the trigger on one a little over a week ago since the total would be $110 more now with the price increase and the $10 decrease of value for the Pixel 9 lol. At least with the 18 Pro the $100 more is towards a new phone. This is the same one from last year.”
The iPhone 17 isn't the only older model to see a price hike, as the iPhone 16 has also seen a $100 jump. This is largely due to a spike in price for chips and RAM prices, which has been impacted by the expansion of AI taking up data center capacity.
Details on the newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro
The latest model of iPhone comes with some serious upgrades including new capabilities with Siri AI.
The revamped digital assistant will be able to ‘take actions in your apps, including third-party apps’.

Meanwhile, the battery life is purported to be the longest in iPhone history.
Introducing the new device, new Apple CEO John Ternus shared in his keynote address: “I love the idea that the things we make help people be more creative, more productive, and maybe even do things they didn't think possible before. I love that we lead with our values and we infuse them into everything that we do. We obsess over the details.
“We care enormously about design and simplicity. We want our products to be incredibly powerful, but we also want them to be simple and natural and intuitive. And look, at the end of the day, we just want to make things that have a meaningful impact in people's lives.”
