The rift between Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump appeared all but irreparable, yet a meeting at the funeral of far-right commentator Charlie Kirk appears to have started to mend that once-strong friendship, as a lip reader deciphers their conversation.
You'd have to be living under a rock to have missed the volcanic eruption that occurred between Donald Trump and former 'First Buddy' Elon Musk earlier this year, as the pair went from close allies to social media rivals amid a fiery outburst.
Both sides threw wild accusations at each other – including one from Musk that claimed Trump was in the Epstein files – and while the richest man in the world did appear to show remorse for his actions, it didn't seem like there was any way back for the pair.
However, the funeral of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk on Sunday – who was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University earlier this month – saw Trump and Musk cross paths once more, and one expert believes they know exactly what was said.

As reported by the Daily Mail, lip reader Nicola Hickling has managed to match words to the mouth movements of the president and Tesla CEO, and things might be back on track for the two powerful figures.

According to Hickling, Trump appeared to greet Musk with a casual "How are you doing?" adding, "So Elon, I've heard you wanted to chat."
The president then appeared to lean towards the billionaire and offer a proposition of some kind, which is understood to be: "Let's try and work out how to get back on track."
That would be quite a significant move that would perhaps see Musk reassert himself in the political world despite threatening to start his own opposition party, and the tech mogul seemed to find the prospect attractive too.

Watching the video you can see Elon offer a nod in response to Trump's suggestion, with the president tapping his hand in response and saying "I've missed you."
This isn't the only conversation Musk had that experts have managed decode during the funeral, yet it could definitely be the most consequential and might see the billionaire back where he started earlier this year.
Musk also added to the speculation with a suggestive post on X, sharing a picture captured of his conversation with President Trump and adding the caption: "For Charlie."

Whether Kirk's death has inspired the two to mend the fractures that emerged between the two is unclear, but regardless they saw the State Farm Stadium on Sunday as the perfect meeting ground to set the wheels in motion.
