The results of the US midterm elections are in and Democrats have won control of Congress by a landslide, earning a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
All 435 seats of the House were up for grabs, while only 35 of 100 seats in the Senate were voted on, due to senators serving six-year terms. And it turned out to be a historic vote, with James Talarico becoming the first Democrat to win a Senate seat in Texas in 38 years.
The results represent a significant shift in the balance of power in Washington DC, with Democrats now positioned to challenge President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda for the remainder of his presidency.

President Trump reacts to midterm election results
It seems Trump wasn’t best pleased by the results yesterday (November 3), as the US leader took to his own social media platform Truth Social to weigh in on it.

The president wrote: “I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
In another post, Trump added: “I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!”
Elon Musk has also publicly spoken out after the tech mogul had been a fierce supporter of Republican candidates, both vocally and financially.

The world’s richest man spent hundreds of millions of dollars supporting Republican political action committees (PACs) during the midterm election cycle but it has proved to be unsuccessful.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to react to the news, Musk wrote: “Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time.”
In another tweet, he said: “Data centers in space looking pretty appealing right now.”
This election result might spell bad news for Musk after Democratic lawmakers indicated that they want to examine his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In particular, they are interested in analyzing how decisions were made to slash federal spending, reduce government jobs and review public contracts.
There is currently no proposal in place for the government to seize Musk’s assets, although investigators could also potentially look into whether Musk’s private companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, benefited from government decisions while he was helping oversee efforts to cut federal expenditure.
These firms heavily rely on government contracts and grants, so the new changes in leadership in Congress could lead to increased scrutiny for Musk.
