President Donald Trump could face a major political issue if the Republications lose the House and the Senate during next week’s midterm elections.
This is according to AI, which has predicted what the aftermath of such an event could look like as the 2026 midterm elections are set to take place on November 3, with all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats up for grabs.
The elections will serve as an important test of public opinion on Trump’s second presidency term, with Republicans hoping to retain their narrow control of Congress while Democrats look to regain power.
But this year’s election cycle has also seen an unexpected issue emerge as a major talking point among candidates and voters: artificial intelligence data centers.

So, with the election just days away, UNILAD Tech decided to put ChatGPT to work by asking it to predict what could happen if Republicans suffer a damaging defeat and Democrats take control of both the House and Senate. Here is what the AI predicted.

Democrats could launch investigations into Trump’s administration
One of the first things ChatGPT predicted was that Republicans losing both chambers would trigger an internal crisis within the party and, while Trump would remain president, Democrats would take control of Congress when the new members are sworn in on January 3, 2027.
ChatGPT stated: “The Republican Party would experience a fairly brutal internal reckoning.”
It suggested that some Republicans would argue Trump needs to double down on his political approach, while others could conclude that distancing themselves from the president is necessary to survive the 2028 elections.
The AI also predicted that Democrats could spend much of 2027 holding hearings, requesting documents and issuing subpoenas. This could become particularly disruptive if Trump or other members of his administration refused to cooperate.

AI data centers could become a major political issue
Data centers have become an increasingly divisive issue during the 2026 election cycle, with opposition to new developments coming from both Republican and Democratic voters.
Such facilities are needed for the expansion of AI, but their huge electricity and water requirements have raised concerns about the impact on surrounding communities.
If Democrats take control of Congress, ChatGPT predicted that the party could use its influence to scrutinize the Trump administration’s approach to technology and energy policy.
This could lead to greater pressure for transparency around government incentives for data center developments.
