Donald Trump breaks silence on Elon Musk's new 'America Party' with brutal statement

The former First Buddy isn't flavor of the month

The bridges have been well and truly burned, as President Donald Trump has spoken out about Elon Musk's apparent plans to start a political party against the Republicans. While the President of the United States and the world's richest man originally seemed as thick as thieves as the latter headed up the Department of Government Efficiency, many (correctly) predicted that things would soon fall apart.

Elon Musk announced he'd be stepping back from politics to focus on his other business ventures, but in a wild parting shot, claimed that Donald Trump was named in an unreleased portion of the Epstein files. Musk has since walked back the scandalous accusations with an apology, and although things seemed to die down for a while, the President's One Big Beautiful Bill Act has again opened up old wounds.

The tech billionaire has been vocally against the bill, claiming it will cost the American public millions of jobs, but as well as vowing to fund a campaign against the politicians who voted through the bill, he also claimed he'll start his own political party.

Promising to form the 'America Party', Musk says his new party will oppose both the Democrats and Republicans, both of which he's massively backed over the years.

President Trump has already threatened to deport Elon Musk, and now, he's spoken out about the former First Buddy's latest political ambitions.

Traveling back from his New Jersey golf club, the POTUS branded Musk's plans as 'ridiculous', expanding by saying: "Third parties have never worked, so he can have fun with it but I think it’s ridiculous."

Doubling down on the recent fracas, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to add: "I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks. He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States."

A clearly vexed President mused: "The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS."

He again accused Musk of falling out with him due to plans to end the subsidies that promote buying electric vehicles in the USA. As Musk is the CEO of Tesla, he stands to lose billions, which Trump maintains is why they fell out in the first place.

Added to this, Trump alleges that Musk was seeking improper influence by nominating Jared Isaacman as NASA administrator. When Musk stepped down from DOGE, Isaacman's nomination was withdrawn, with Trump sniping: "I also thought it inappropriate that a very close friend of Elon, who was in the Space Business, run NASA, when NASA is such a big part of Elon’s corporate life."

A defiant Musk says that President Trump is 'bankrupting' the USA, speaking out on X as he said: "When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

Whether Musk makes good on these threats remains to be seen, but by the looks of it, Donald Trump doesn't seem too worried.
