Elon Musk posts social security data to X days after head of SSA refused to give him access

Elon Musk has posted social security data to social media just days after the head of the SSA refused to give him access.

The Tesla boss has released information from the social security database on his own social media platform X, formerly Twitter, which he has said details the number of people in each age bracket.

Bizarrely, there appears to be people alive with ages up to 369 years old.

In the post, Musk wrote: “According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!

“Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security.”

However, the figures shared by Musk have been disputed, with another user showing a different list, writing: “And here's the number of RECIPIENTS of social security in each age bucket with the death field set to false (and recipient set to true). A mere 89,106 are aged 99+, not the tens of millions suggested by @elonmusk.”

This recent release of social security information comes just days following the resignation of the acting head of the Social Security Administration (SSA) after she refused to give Musk and DOGE access to confidential data.

Michelle King had worked at the agency for 30 years but opted for retirement instead of granting the billionaire access to the system.

In a statement released by the White House on Monday (February 17), it read: “President Trump has nominated the highly qualified and talented Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration, and we expect him to be swiftly confirmed in the coming weeks.

“In the meantime, the agency will be led by a career Social Security anti-fraud expert as the acting commissioner. President Trump is committed to appointing the best and most qualified individuals who are dedicated to working on behalf of the American people, not to appease the bureaucracy that has failed them for far too long.”

Earlier this year, Musk took on the role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after being appointed by President Donald Trump.

While not technically a government department, the team is said to act as an outside advisor on federal spending.

At the time of his appointment, Musk promised to slash trillions from the federal budget.

Fears have been growing over Musk’s access to the confidential information of millions of Americans, including social security and Medicare benefits payments.
