It's one of the most exciting times of the year to be an Apple user as new features are on the verge of being announced, so if you have an iPhone, iPad, or Macbook then make sure to tune in to what's being shown later today.
There's rarely a dull moment for Apple fans, as you're constantly treated to new updates that bring exciting fresh features alongside somewhat unwelcome changes, yet there's one event that really brings in the eyeballs every year without fail.
While it might not be quite as exciting as the flagship 'Apple Events' where all of the new hardware is announced, the yearly Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) definitely isn't something you'll want to skip out on if you own an iPhone, iPad, or Macbook.
What time is the Apple WWDC event?
Apple's WWDC event kicks off at 10 AM PT / 6 PM BST on Monday, June 9, 2025. It is available to everyone around the world - hence the easy-to-remember name - and you can tune in either on Apple's own website, or through Apple TV if you have a compatible device.

It is technically a week-long event that stretches all the way until Friday, June 13, but the keynote address is what most people will be tuning in for, and when all of the big announcements will be made.
This keynote is expected to last for around two hours going by previous years, so make sure you've got a drink and some snacks ready as you won't want to leave your couch.
What are Apple expected to announce today?
Given the fact that the WWDC is software-focused, it's expected that Apple's main focus will be split between an iOS overhaul and updates to Apple Intelligence - the company's own artificial intelligence software that hasn't exactly had the best of starts.

As reported by the Mirror, one of the biggest announcements that's expected at the WWDC is the big name change that's coming for Apple's operating system.
Right now all devices are running the 18th version of their respective OS (iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS) and many have expected that the next one would jump up to 19, understandably so.

However, if rumors are to be believed Apple are taking a new (and slightly confusing) turn by jumping all the way up to 26, although the tech giant claims that this will make OS iterations going forward easier for users to understand.

It's expected that we'll get a further glimpse into what's to come with iOS 26 ahead of a likely release in September too, so keep your eyes peeled for all the changes big and small.
As mentioned, it is also highly likely that Apple continue their AI push with new Apple Intelligence features, despite having pulled adverts amid suggestions that the tech isn't quite there yet.
We're still waiting for the major Siri overhaul that Tim Cook spoke loving about last year, alongside a number of blockbuster features that other competing AI models have already shown off, so the ball is now in Apple's court as to what they're able to show off today.
