Tech creators predict Apple will launch biggest iOS change in 12 years next week

A huge technical leap could be on the way.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just days away, and it’s shaping up to be a seismic moment in the company’s software history. Scheduled for Monday, 9th June, the event is expected to unveil what could be the biggest iOS overhaul since iOS 7 dropped back in 2013 — and making it understandable for some tech creators to start buzzing.

This year’s WWDC isn’t just about routine software updates. Apple is reportedly gearing up for a complete design transformation that will impact the entire product lineup, from iPhones and iPads to Macs and Apple Watches. If the rumours are to be believed, iOS is about to get a glassy, futuristic glow-up.

One of the most telling signs came from Apple itself. The official WWDC website now features the tagline ‘Sleek Peak’ accompanied by a frosted glass Apple logo. That subtle but stylised clue aligns with speculation that Apple is drawing heavy visual inspiration from the VisionOS interface seen on the Apple Vision Pro.

T3 reported: “All of the rumours and leaks so far have pointed to a new design, which will take on the glass-like aesthetic seen in the Apple Vision Pro's VisionOS,” adding, “The WWDC website has been changed to offer a new tagline... topped by an Apple logo which appears to be made from frosted glass.”

Veteran YouTube creator iJustine echoed the buzz, saying the update will bring “transparent windows, glass interface elements, rounded edges with flowing navigation and menus.” She added: “When you're using Vision Pro, it really does feel like the future, so kind of bringing a little bit of that futuristic look to all of the other devices — I am definitely here for it.”

But that’s not all. Apple is also expected to roll out a new naming system that ditches the current numbering scheme in favour of one that reflects the calendar year. That means iOS 18 will leap straight to iOS 26, in sync with macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and even VisionOS.

iJustine admitted: “It kind of makes sense in the long run” before explaining “But we've been at this for almost 18 years, so I'm a little sad to see the timeline shift, but at least now, everything will all be unified.”

Additional features likely to appear include AI-powered battery management, updates to Apple’s Health app with new food logging and coaching tools, and maybe a surprise hardware drop. iJustine teased the possibility of “Apple glasses… something kind of similar to the Ray-Ban Metas but with an Apple spin.”

So, WWDC 2025 seems like it won’t be just another developer showcase — instead, marking the start of a bold new era in Apple’s journey.
