It's not just PlayStation vs Xbox, SpaceX vs Blue Origin, and ChatGPT vs OpenAI, as another big tech rivalry has just reared its head…again. While it was once Nokia that ruled the roost with its seemingly indestructible phones of the noughties, the evolution of the smartphone has seen Samsung and Apple take each other on.
Even though Google does bits with the Pixel phones, it's largely iPhone versus Samsung Galaxy as Samsung remains the largest phone manufacturer in the world.
Apple was quick out of the gate with the release of the original iPhone back in 2007, although Samsung wasn't too far behind with its first Galaxy hitting shelves in 2009.
Whereas Samsung is somewhat sporadic with its releases, Apple shows off the new iPhone like clockwork around this time of year, with the devices landing soon after.

The big news is the reveal of the iPhone 17 lineup that will come with the new iOS 26 and Liquid Glass technology.
Apple is sure to make it big with its largest roster of phones yet, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the long-rumored iPhone 17 Air. There are whispers that foldable iPhones are potentially on the way next year, but as they're MIA in 2025, Samsung took its chance to take a pop.

Even though this is likely just a bit of friendly banter between some social media interns, it's definitely caused a stir.

Posts joking "iCan't believe this is still relevant," moaning about Sleep Score, and the lack of foldable iPhones have rattled the tech community. It appears the original six-word post has kicked off a war of the words.
Over on Reddit, one person said the Samsung social media team has 'no chill', and even if Apple probably won't be too fussed by the jibes, others didn't find it as funny.
Posting on X, one person complained: "I tried several. Fold 4,5,6. All trash. Trash U.I. Trash hardware. Even with its issues, Apple is better."
Another added: "#iCant believe you think folding phones will ever have enough market share to make them relevant."

A third left a parting burn as they concluded: "But Apple folded your business already."
The numbers definitely don't agree with that one, but we'll admit the 'folded' pun is pretty good.

Still, all of the above raises an important question bout just how relevant folding smartphones are, and whether they really are the future we're heading toward.
When foldable iPhones are eventually released, you can bet that Samsung's social media team will be the first to make a post about Apple 'copying' it, but even if it's a joke, we'd be careful about poking the bear.
Although we understand Samsung trying to get in on the conversation at a time that the eyes of the tech world are fixated on Apple, this one could backfire, as it's only ignited debate between the ever-vocal Samsung and Apple stans.
