Apple's 'iPhone fold' rumored to start at hefty price tag of $2,000
Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone is expected to be officially announced by the firm later today (September 9), and apparently, it comes with quite a steep price tag.
The tech giant’s highly anticipated ‘Surprise and shine’ event is set to take place today, with it starting at 1pm EDT, and many people are speculating online about which new products might be unveiled.
This includes the rumored iPhone Duo, which was initially thought to be called the iPhone Ultra, which is expected to be announced as Apple's first-ever foldable smartphone.
How much could the iPhone Duo cost?
There's been some wild speculation about what the first folding iPhone could cost, with some claiming future iPhones could cost over $3,000 thanks to Trump tariffs and the ongoing RAMageddon crisis.

However, if the rumors are true, then you could be looking at a hefty price tag if you want to get your hands on a device. This is because reports suggest that the iPhone Duo could have a starting price of a whopping $2,000.
This was backed up by a recent Vodafone Egypt leak, and while prices change depending on where in the world we are, the $2,000 price tag is one that's looking increasingly likely.
Elsewhere, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is also expected to shatter the $1,999 barrier, with reports suggesting that the latest range of iPhones could be launched with a significant price hike.
While rumors have been swirling about a possible foldable phone for years, with there being much speculation that the company has been working on the product for some time, it is only now that it seems the firm is finally ready.
This is by no means a novelty for the phone industry at this point, as foldable smartphones have been commercially available since 2018, although speculation says that Apple has been quietly learning from the mistakes of other manufacturers to perfect its product before it hits the shelves.
Other Apple devices expected to be announced today
Apple is also set to unveil a whole host of new products today, with the new iPhone 18 lineup predicted to be announced alongside the Apple Watch Series 12.
The smartwatch is rumored to come with some handy features that could justify the upgrade. This includes the likes of a continuous heart rate monitor, which will be available through the Fitness app.
This will allow users to record their heart rate all day, with the feature always being switched on.
Meanwhile, the watch will also come with a new S-series processor and a ceramic case, which is making its first appearance with the watch since 2019.
Apple’s ‘Surprise and shine’ event is expected to mark John Ternus’ first keynote address after taking over as CEO of the company following Tim Cook’s stepping down from the role.
Ternus officially took the reins on September 1, with Cook bowing out after spending 15 years in the position.
