Get ready for another update that will rock Apple to its 'core' because iOS 27.2 is wrapping up its beta cycle and is presumably just around the corner.
Apple made a big fanfare about iOS 27's arrival back in September 2026, adding the likes of the long-awaited Siri AI, Call Context, and an overhauled Image Playground. Never one to rest on its laurels, developers have been tinkering away on the upcoming iOS 27.2, which is expected to land on or around October 26.
iOS 27.2's most important additions

As shared by Mashable, there are seven important features you should be looking out for. It's not just iPhone owners set to appreciate this, and also, iOS 27.2 has more than just the ability to combine two emojis.

Dual Capture group FaceTime calls
We already have Dual Capture that lets you nab a video with the rear main and selfie cameras, and expanding for use with FaceTime, you can do the same on a video call.
That was limited to a call with just one person, but according to 9to5Mac, iOS 27.2 adds the ability to use Dual Capture on a Group FaceTime call.
Health app overhaul
Get ready for all those "new year, new me" posts, and to get ahead of the game, Apple is supposedly redesigning its Health app with iOS 27.2. While the September 'Surprise and shine' event confirmed a revamped Health app was coming, MacRumors has pointed to the next big update.
The redesign includes three main tabs of Insights (your current vitals etc), Longevity (health data over a specific period), and Browse. The latter is the only section carried over from the old version and will serve as a full directory and manual library of your health.
Message suggestions
With Siri AI being a souped-up personal assistant in our pockets, it's set to be baked into our texts. If someone messages you about a specific date, Suggestions will give you the option to one-tap it to your calendar. 9to5 Mac reminds us that while it was part of the iOS 27 beta, it's failed to appear just yet. Suggestions also takes the context of a conversation to help you find photos, locations, contacts, and more.
Apple Podcasts refresh
Even though it might not be the most exciting addition to iOS 27.2, Apple Podcasts' 'Up Next' section will be split into 'New Episodes' and 'Continue Playing'. Continue Playing is a new section that will show all those podcasts you might've been listening to but didn't quite get around to finishing.

Anniversary reminders
While we sadly can't help you with forgetting that big day with that special someone, MacRumors claims iOS 27.2 will remind you if you have it set in your contacts. You'll still have to rush to the gas station to nab an emergency bunch of flowers, but at least you can open the call with a "happy anniversary."
Apple TV profiles
Apple is investing back into Apple TV to remind us it's not all about iPhones and MacBooks. Whereas the likes of Netflix and Disney+ have given us our own specific profiles where we can cultivate what we want to watch or look back on what we've been watching, Apple TV has lumped us all into one group. While Apple TV viewers on tvOS already have this ability, iOS 27.2 is finally bringing it to iPhone.
As well as getting specific TV and movie suggestions based on your watch history, you won't have to remember where you were up to in Widow's Bay when someone else started watching an episode.
Home app alerts
Finally, Apple continues to go all in on its home family in the aftermath of its Welcome Home event. iOS 27.2 will apparently add new functions to the Home app.
'Lock After Closing' will help keep yours secure, while 'Door Left Open' will alert you if a door equipped with a compatible smart lock isn't locked. Rest assured that your home is locked up tight while you're thousands of miles away on your vacation.
When will iOS 27.2 release?
It's currently unclear exactly when iOS 27.2 will be released, but Apple seeded the Release Candidate (RC) version to beta testers on October 19. As updates are typically fully rolled out exactly one week after, that's why we've landed on the hopeful Monday, October 26 release. If not, the 27th or 28th will still hit promises the update is coming in October.
If you’re wondering why your iPhone is skipping iOS 27.1, that's because that release was specific to iPhone Duo, while iOS 27.2 is the first mainline release since Apple upped its AI capabilities with iOS 27.
