Predictably the reveal of the new iPhone 17 has generated significant amounts of hype, and some with the Apple community even believe that it could be the 'best deal in years' when it comes to the tech giant's phone releases.
People have been desperate to get a glimpse of the iPhone 17 for months now, and one YouTuber even risked going to prison to discuss all of the information that had been leaked so far.
Now that it's finally here though people don't know what to do with themselves, especially as the enhanced Pro version and super thin and light iPhone Air have also been revealed.
One major realization that has emerged now that the dust has settled though is that the iPhone 17 could be one of Apple's most important releases, with some even calling it the 'best deal in years'.

One new post in particular from u/sheep_zg on the r/iphone subreddit highlights it well, as they claim that "it's the closest to the Pro and most worth getting," with the $799 price tag making it perhaps too good to ignore.

While there are undoubtedly a number of enhancements that the Pro has to make paying that extra $300 feel worth it, the iPhone 17 does include a number of features that were previously exclusive to the souped-up edition in earlier versions.
For example, one of the biggest differentiators in recent years between the standard iPhone and the Pro is the screen refresh rate, which you might be familiar with under the Apple-coined term 'ProMotion technology'.

For the first time ever a standard iPhone will have access to a 120Hz display, which will make using your favorite apps and generally scrolling on your device feel buttery smooth — especially on the Super Retina XDR display.

The Pro does still have a slightly better battery, an increased GPU core count, improved durability with the inclusion of a Ceramic Shield, and enhanced camera technology with an additional 48MP telephoto lens, but the phones are closer than ever before and it makes that $799 price tag look like a steal.
"I do think it's the best deal," writes one commenter. "I'm going to upgrade from a 12 Pro to either a base 17 or 17 Pro. I'm a bit torn because the value of the base 17 is so good."

This isn't the first time in recent memory that Apple has made it's entry-level options feel like incredible value for money, as both the Mac Mini and Macbook Air have received the same treatment with their latest versions.
However, this could be the perfect excuse for people that have been holding off on an upgrade, especially if your current iPhone is on the cusp of losing update support.
