Apple users based in Europe have been left ‘speechless’ at the price increases for the new iPhone 17.
The tech giant unveiled its latest model of iPhone yesterday (September 9) during its ‘awe dropping’ live event.
The new iPhone will come in four different models including the brand new iPhone Air, which is set to be the thinnest iPhone ever made at just 5.6mm.
However, Apple fans have taken to social media to share their shock over the price listing, in particular the difference in prices in the US compared with Europe.

On Reddit, one user posted: “I watched the livestream as some of you did as well but as someone from the EU i am quite speechless at the steep price increase only on Iphone models. For comparison:

“USD: Iphone 17 = 799$; Iphone 17 Air = 999$; Iphone 17 Pro = 1099$. EUR: Iphone 17 = 950€; Iphone 17 Air = 1199€; Iphone 17 Pro = 1299€.
“The Airpods Pro 3 are 1:1 the same price in USD as in EUR, the Apple Watch models also have a small price increase.

“It’s really a downer for me as I was hoping to upgrade from an Iphone 12 Pro personally.”
Another wrote: “Did you notice that the iPhone 17 in the US and Japan comes with a bigger battery because it doesn’t have a nano SIM card slot? It’s not a negligible difference — it’s nearly 9% more capacity.
“Why can’t Apple simply offer the option to buy a slot-free model in other countries as well? Personally, I’d rather have the extra battery life than a nano SIM slot.”
A third person commented: “Yea its f***ed up.”

And a fourth added: “1200€ for a one camera, mono speaker garbage?”

However, there might be a logical explanation as to why there is different pricing in Europe compared with the US as one user wrote: “The US prices don’t include tax.”
The new range of iPhones are expected to be the first ones to use iOS 26’s Liquid Glass design and the screen has a larger display than previous models, with a 6.3 inch display.

The frame of the iPhone Air will be made of titanium, and the Pro version will also have a 48 megapixel camera.
Other new products include the Apple Watch Series 11 which will come with WatchOS 26, and the AirPods Pro 3, which will be available to buy from September 19.
