Phone cases have changed a lot over the years to follow current trends moving away from the classic wallet case to colorful styles.
Nowadays you can just about get any design of phone case to suit your style but some might be more bizarre than others.
In fact, there is a new insanely creepy ‘human skin’ phone case that burns when under sunlight just like real skin.
This comes as the mobile network company O2 has partnered up with creative technologist Marc Teyssier to create a new 3D printed silicone case which is designed to mimic the look and touch of human skin.

Known as the ‘Skincase’, the design is available in four different skintones and comes with some creepy, life-like features.
This includes the fact that the case contains pigments that will change the color of the ‘skin’ when it is exposed to UV rays, just like how our skin burns when faced with too much sun.

Teyssier used a combination of silicone and UV-reacting pigment, which he put through a 3D printer to create the unique phone case.
He then drew lines into the cases to give it the appearance of a human palm.
When you take the case outside, it changes color, making the skin appear darker and slightly burnt.
While that might be enough to make our actual skin crawl, there is a very important reason behind the design as O2 hope it will encourage vacationers to pay as much attention to their skin as they do snapping holiday selfies.

Teyssier said: “Our phones are objects we don’t expect to change and to react in a humane way.
“By creating a tangible, visceral reaction to UV exposure, together with O2, the Skincase not only raises awareness of sun safety towards but highlights how sun protection is an undeniable priority.”

Christian Hindennach, who is the chief commercial officer at Virgin Media O2, added: “Holidays should be about creating unmissable moments, bringing home souvenirs and making memories – not about roaming bills and sunburn.

“With mobiles being such an essential part of everyday life, and while on holiday as our research shows, we’ve created the Skincase to demonstrate in real time just how severe the effects of sunburn can be, and to promote awareness of vital sun safety among holidaymakers.”
While the new case has certainly got people talking, it’s not available to purchase just yet as it is still a prototype.
Although, it’s definitely a reminder to pick up a bottle of sunscreen before boarding a flight for your next summer destination.
