Elon Musk has been slammed for sharing a post that could be ‘promoting’ the extinction of the human race.

The tech mogul recently shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, that depicts the roles that Tesla robots could potentially fill in the future.

In the clip, users can see the bots acting as construction workers, martial art fighters and even paramedics.

This certainly caused a stir online, with many taking to Musk’s own social media site to share their thoughts on the matter.

One user wrote: “You post about human extinction through low birth rates... but then promote robots taking over every human job and not needing humans at all. One or the other guy.”

This prompted a response from others with another person saying: “This paradox is a mystery to me, also. TBF he does not promote robots taking every human job - that’s ideological banter in support of the innovation. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Which is also an idea most often expressed by the masses who believe robots are going to replace humans in the workforce.

“That’s just a doomsday, unrealistic view of the technology. But I could see a world, in the foreseeable future, where robots are augmenting humans in many work environments.

“Robots will lower costs and make products, services, energy, water and other necessities more abundant and accessible to more people. The more people that participate in an economy, the bigger it becomes. The economy’s not a fixed pie.”

One person didn’t seem too worried about the prospect of robots taking our jobs, commenting: “When robots do all the work all we have to do is hang around, f***, raise kids, make art & music and play sports.”

Another agreed, adding: “The whole purpose of these humanoid robots is to give humans more free and creative time, the ultimate goal of humanity is to populate and thrive. they're not replacing humans, they're making life easier. no point in doing jobs or work if no humans exist.”

However, some people were concerned by the clip, with one user warning: “The elite are going to use these robots as their defense against the masses once the masses realize that their universal basic income provides them no real liberty.”

The Tesla Optimus robot was first unveiled last year at the company’s ‘We, Robot’ event.

At the event, Musk spoke about the bot’s capabilities, explaining: “What can it do? It can be a teacher, babysit your kids, it can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, serve drinks. Whatever you can think of, it will do.

“I think this will be the biggest product ever, of any kind. I think everyone is going to want their Optimus buddy, maybe two.”
