Donald Trump has been accused of going too far, as the President of the United States has been called out for an offensive video depicting Michelle and Barack Obama as monkeys. There's no love lost between the 44th President of the United States and the current POTUS, with their feud largely stemming from the latter's wild 'birther' claims from 2011.
Back then, Donald Trump said he had doubts that Obama had a US birth certificate, and even offered a $5 million charity donation to anyone who could convince him otherwise.
Obama shot back during the now-infamous White House correspondents' annual dinner, where he poked fun at the conspiracy theories, mocked Trump's time on The Apprentice, and left a sour-faced Donald in the audience.
While President Trump has continued to fire barbs at opponents like Hilary Clinton and Joe Biden, he's again turned his attention to Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.

Posting on Truth Social, Donald Trump shared a one-minute video perpetuating the claims that ballot-counting company Dominion Voting Systems helped Joe Biden 'steal' the 2020 election for the Democrats.
Toward the end of the video, there's a brief snippet of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", accompanied by a cartoon video of two monkeys that have the faces of Barack and Michelle.
At the time of writing, the Truth Social post has been ReTruthed nearly 700 times and liked 2,000 times.
It has quickly spread far beyond Trump's one social media platform, gaining traction and controversy on X.
President Trump is known for sharing controversial artificial intelligence videos, like ones suggesting he'd run for a third term, another that showed him dumping feces on protestors, and even the official White House account seeming to portray him as the villainous Sith from Star Wars.
While many of these posts have been laughed at, the latest could be the most contentious yet.
This isn't the first time Trump has tried to ridicule Barack Obama with AI, previously posting a video that depicted him being arrested in the Oval Office and then being put behind bars in an orange jumpsuit.
As noted by Deadline, the latest video features an @XERIAS_X watermark. An X account with the handle @XERIAS_X includes a profile photo of a Donald Trump-inspired Pepe the Frog, while that same account also took credit for the aforementioned feces video that the president shared in 2025.
In response to the monkey video, the backlash has been immediate. As frequent critics of President Trump, the office of California's Gavin Newsom took to X to write: "Disgusting behavior by the President. Every single Republican must denounce this. Now."
An account called Republicans Against Trump added: "BREAKING: Trump just posted a video on Truth Social that includes a racist image of Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys. There’s no bottom."
Ben Rhodes, a former top national security advisor and close ally of Barack Obama, chimed in saying: "Let it haunt Trump and his racist followers that future Americans will embrace the Obamas as beloved figures while studying him as a stain on our history."
This isn't the first time Trump has been called out over his AI videos, with House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries slamming one that showed him wearing a fake mustache and a sombrero: "Mr. President, the next time you have something to say about me, don’t cop out through a racist and fake AI video."
Obama has previously clashed with the Trump administration, and when Republican ally Tulsi Gabbard accused Obama of a' treasonous conspiracy' to undermine Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, he made a rare statement where he said any claims were 'bizarre', as well as being a "ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction."
