To quote Master Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try." But maybe when it comes to the White House's social media team, it should've been a case of 'do not', after an awkward post celebrating Star Wars Day has onlookers questioning the message that it was trying to get across.
For those who aren't up on their galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Day is an annual celebration on May 4.
Honoring the iconic, “May the Force be with you,” catchphrase, we celebrate all things Star Wars on this momentous day.

Presumably trying to show it's down with the kids, the official White House X account shared an image of President Donald Trump in full Star Wars garb.
Flanked by two American eagles, this doctored image of the POTUS featured him with bulging biceps and rippled pecs, sporting the classic Jedi robes and a lightsaber.
While most took it as a tongue-in-cheek way of cashing in on Star Wars Day, some were concerned that it looks like Trump is holding a red lightsaber.

Still, we'd argue it's better than the man himself sharing an AI image of him as the Pope.
The post read: "Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion—you’re the Empire. May the 4th be with you."
While the post vows to take on the villainous Sith, the problem is that the red lightsaber is typically used to represent the Sith Lords.
Another problem is that Star Wars creator George Lucas said he originally envisioned the Sith as an army of fanatical soldiers who served Emperor Palpatine like the Schutzstaffel served Adolf Hitler. In the end, that concept was condensed into Darth Vader. Either way, it's not the best look.

Mocking the situation, one critic wrote: "How do you not have one nerd on staff to tell you what color lightsaber is good and what color is bad???"
Another added: "If you’re the Sith, who’s the Jedi? Because this galaxy could use a hero, not another dark lord with a flag fetish.
A third concluded: "You idiots DO realize that this sh*t is considered official presidential communication and gets stored forever in the Library of Congress, right? Do you WANT historians to point to this period as the dumbest in American history?"
Proof this guy is full of SITH.

Others jumped to defend Trump, with someone suggesting it's orange that represents the Gray Jedi, typically on the outer edges of the Jedi Order. Still, we'd argue that's not much better.
The bungled post even drew the attention of Star Wars legend Mark Hamill. The man behind Luke Skywalker took a shot at Trump on Bluesky and wrote, "Proof this guy is full of SITH."
He was quickly joined by others suggesting that Trump would be better represented by the villainous Jabba the Hutt.
Hamill has been vocal against the Trump administration, previously telling Democrats: "We're at a time in our history we're fighting against real evil, so I beg you, please, don't go to the orange side."

Whether you see President Trump as Emperor Palpatine or a Republican Obi-Wan Kenobi, the latest post has split the internet further than the New Republic and the First Order.
