There is a huge free iPhone upgrade that will soon be available for millions of users, and there’s a way for you to get it before everyone else.
Earlier this month, Apple unveiled its new operating system, iOS 26, at the annual WWDC.
Instead of going from iOS 18 to 19, the tech giant has made the decision to skip the next seven versions and jump straight to 26.

And it’s not without good reason - this move is to make all of the operating system upgrade sync with the calendar year.
The latest version is expected to drop in September of this year and will bring a whole host of new features and additions to the iPhone.
This includes things like Call Screening, which will enable users to block any unwanted phone calls, and upgrades to popular apps such as Photos and Maps.

And while there is a three month wait to get the new iOS 26, there is a way that you can get it installed on your device much sooner.
This is because Apple just announced that the beta version will be available to try out from next month.
In a statement, Apple said: “New public betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, HomePod software 26, watchOS 26 and AirPods Firmware are coming soon.
“As a member of the Apple Beta Software Programme, you can take part in shaping Apple software by test-driving pre-release versions and letting us know what you think.

“The Apple Beta Software Programme lets you try pre-release software and provide feedback to help us make it even better.”
Craig Federighi, who is Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, said: “iOS 26 shines with the gorgeous new design and meaningful improvements to the features users rely on every day, making iPhone even more helpful.
“Experiences are more expressive and personal, from the Lock Screen and Home Screen, to new capabilities across Phone and Messages that help users focus on the connections that matter most. And with powerful new Apple Intelligence capabilities integrated across the system, users can get things done easier than ever.”

Just be aware that Apple has advised not to install the beta version of iOS 26 on your main device as it is a pre-released version that could have bugs and issues on it.
But the beta does give the tech company a chance to iron out any of the issues people might encounter with the beta version before its official release.
