There's nothing worse than running out of battery while you're out and about, but these tricks can let you use key iPhone features even after reaching the dreaded 0% mark.
iPhones are great, and there's a reason why the Apple device is the most popular smartphone on the market, yet they can run into an issue where their battery drains faster than you might expect - especially if you got an older device.
It's surprisingly easy to do things that'll damage your battery over time, and while there are plenty of tips that you can enact that'll extend the life of your gadgets, you're always bound to find yourself in a situation where your iPhone dies and you've not got a charger to save you.

Thankfully Apple have thought of that already, installing a handful of actions that you can take even if your phone completely dies which can be an absolute lifesaver if you're stuck outside with no other options.
As reported by the Sun, the first of these is perhaps the most useful - especially if you live in a big city.
Express Mode, essentially your iPhone's last ditch power reserve - allows you to use specific saved cards from your Apple Wallet even if your phone is completely dead.

It's triggered to be on by default thankfully, but you will have to enable the cards to be used within your Apple Wallet for them to be used.
The biggest catch, however, is that you can only use them to pay for specific things like the underground in London or the New York subway, and it simply won't work if you go to buy something from the shops or even pay for a taxi.
Thankfully you can also add any digital car keys to this though, allowing you to unlock and use your vehicle even after your phone has died - but you might also want to look into the new Tesla app for Apple Watch as that could also save you in situations like this.
Alongside this, you can also continue to use the Find My app on another device to locate your iPhone after its died, which is obviously very handy if it's been a couple of hours since you last had it.

This does only work for devices released after the iPhone 11 however, but can come in clutch if it gets stolen or you leave it somewhere without realizing.
Finally, one of the simplest yet most effective things your iPhone can do after its died it still tell the time, as you never know when that might come in handy!
Of course, most people will have watches - smart or otherwise - or be with someone else who will be able to give you the exact time, but it's something that you won't know you need until you need it, and can really save you if you're needing to run for a train or meet someone at a specific time and your battery has let you down.

One thing to keep in mind is that Express Mode is still limited to around five hours, and continually relying on it will reduce the time in which it's available. So, don't go expecting to take advantage of these features just because you're there, as they should only really be relied on in worst case or last ditch scenarios.
