Remember back in the day when your phones only needed charging once a week and they were built like bombproof bricks? As phones have become more advanced and we fill them with apps for everything from playing games to watching movies, it feels like we're constantly plugging them in or leaving them on charge overnight. Apple has done a reasonable job of improving the battery life for iPhones, but due to the amount we're glued to them, they tend to need charging every day.

Whether it be turning down the brightness or closing background apps, there are plenty of handy hacks to try and squeeze an extra few percent out of your iPhone's battery. According to Payette Forward, there are two specific setting that are zapping all your phone's battery. By disabling just two settings, you should be able to get a little more juice. Better yet, it could also speed up your phone as well.

The video explains how Brightness and Location Services are keeping us tethered to our chargers.

We all know that brightness was a contributing factor to battery life, so by simply lowering your brightness, you should be able to get a bit more out of your iPhone. We're not suggesting you peer into the dark like a mole, but Automatic Brightness is a clever setting that adjusts your phone's brightness depending on your setting. To activate this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness.

The second setting is Location Services. While the likes of Google Maps and the Weather app need to know your location to work correctly, others like Facebook and X might be running your battery low without you even realizing. More than sucking your charge, some apps will sell your valuable data to third-party advertisers. We suggest turning off Location Services entirely or changing your settings so only certain apps will be able to see your location, and only when you're using them.

Go to to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then either toggle them off or scroll to select which apps you want to be able to access them.

Responding to the video, one fan cheered: "My battery life is significantly improved, from 1 day to 2 day battery life. Very less ideal drain. Thanks for the video."

Another added, "You guys are great! I’m a senior lady and know so much more than my friends concerning my phone and it’s all due to you. Thanks soo much," and a third said, "I updated all my settings using this video and I was amazed how much more battery juice I was able to save. Thank you, fellas! You guys are the real MVPs."

There other suggestions like turning off push mail and being careful with background app refresh, so before you know it, your iPhone will be lasting through the day without needing to charge.
