iCloud+ subscribers unlock these little-known AI benefits with iOS 27
Apple Intelligence is the big focus of iOS 27, yet you might have noticed when downloading and installing the update this week that there are clear limitations on how much you can use the new features.
Not every feature is impacted by these restrictions, but some of the more demanding tools have been restricted as they rely on 'powerful server models' in order to function.
What you might not be aware of, however, is that Apple provides a way for you to bypass these restrictions — and all it takes is to have an iCloud+ subscription, although not every level appears to unlock access.
It serves as another excellent reason to sign up to Apple's monthly subscription model, as not only do you get additional cloud storage benefits and access to countless great films and TV shows through a now-free Apple TV+ subscription, but you also get to use all the amazing AI features without the worry of running into a roadblock.
iCloud+ subscription removes restrictions for AI features
As reported by 9to5Mac, a new press release from Apple has highlighted the potential to increase your access to certain Apple Intelligence features, pointing specifically towards something like image generation.

"Increased access is available with most iCloud+ subscription plans, which also include Apple Intelligence support for compatible Home cameras," the statement reads.
It's unclear exactly which iCloud+ tiers this specifically applies too, but it's likely that the cheapest plan – setting you back only $0.99 per month – doesn't get access to these restriction-lifting benefits, but there's no confirmation of that yet.
Don't go out and get the subscription purely for these benefits if you aren't already reaching the maximum limit for AI usage without it though, as while the additional features you get with an iCloud+ subscription are definitely worth it, you might not need it for everything you're doing.
What else do you get with iCloud+?
While this is definitely a worthwhile addition to the list of iCloud+ benefits, the subscription is already worth it when it comes to what it can provide for iPhone and Macbook users.
Cybersecurity is something that Apple have focused on with its subscription model, as not only do you get iCloud Private Relay – letting you hide your IP address in Safari and protect your unencrypted traffic – but you also get access to the much-lauded Hide My Email feature.
This lets you generate custom email addresses on demand, allowing you to provide them to services without exposing your real identity — something that can be vital when trying to avoid spam and prevent third-parties from selling your personal details.
On top of this, you also get the ability to create your own custom email domain and share it with friends and family members, alongside the option to generate Apple Invites for any events that you're running.
Another major benefit that you're bound to be aware of too is increased iCloud storage, with options for 50 GB, 200 GB, 2 TB, 6 TB, and even 12 TB plans depending on how much you need.
When photos and videos are only increasing in size, you'll want to make sure that you have somewhere to keep them safely forever — making this a no-brainer for pretty much anyone with an iPhone these days, even on the smallest tier.
