Apple CEO Tim Cook recently opened up about one major sacrifice he's had to make in his journey to the top.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook reflected on his early days working at the tech giant and under the late Steve Jobs.

He credited Jobs with teaching him valuable lessons including 'not to be married to past views,' 'the value of innovation' and the power of small teams.

“He taught me the value of focus, the importance of simplicity, the fact that making things simple is so much harder than making things complex,” Cook said.

During the interview, Cook was also asked what sacrifices he’s made to get where he is today.

Because success definitely doesn't come without sacrifices.

Without hesitation, Cook answered 'sleep' and then joked: "Fortunately I love coffee."

Cook then laughed about his daily coffee intake, humorously saying: “Please don’t benchmark that,” acknowledging that he probably drinks more coffee than most.

He also revealed his morning routine, which involves waking up early and immediately checking emails from customers on his Mac.

“I get notes both that are positive and some that are not so positive,” he said. “I think this is great because it keeps my hand on the pulse of the company.”

Also in the interview, Cook went on to talk about his working relationship with Jobs, saying that the former CEO appreciated people who challenged him.

"He loved someone to debate him, and you could always change his mind if you had the best idea," Cook explained.

"We changed each other's minds. That's the reason we worked so well."

Fans have praised Cook for his leadership and likeable personality in the YouTube comments.

"Steve Jobs knew how to design Apple products and market them, Tim Cook knew how to run Apple like a well oiled machine," wrote the first user.

"One of the best things about Tim Cook is that when you listen to him as he speaks, you can clearly see how passionate he is, a key thing for being a good CEO," said one other user.

"I like Tim. I wish this was longer, he’s such a down to earth, likable, nice guy who just happens to be extremely smart and not pompous about it. There’s not a lot of people like that!" added another.
