It's far from the first time that Apple has launched an offensive against Google, but the company's latest attempts to get people to switch from Chrome to Safari are perhaps its most vigilant yet.
Launching a campaign titled 'Stay on Safari', Apple has revealed the reasons why its own internet browser is not only more powerful but more reliable than Google's alternative, echoing the privacy benefits that have remained a core part of its marketing over the years.
Not only is there a brand new webpage dedicated to showing you the benefits of Safari over Chrome, but Apple has also launched two new video ads – shared on YouTube – that boast about the Distraction Control and Intelligent Tracking Prevention features.
Most people don't even really think about what the browser they're using brings beyond its ability to drive them to webpages, but this new campaign aims to educate iPhone and MacBook users as to why the native option might be best for them.
Apple outlines the benefits that Safari has over Chrome
When looking at pure performance, there are a number of areas where Apple users will find that Safari benefits them over Chrome.

Highlighted in the breakdown is the likelihood that Safari gives you up to five hours more video playback on a Mac compared to Chrome, and that arrives alongside faster page loading and better rendering performance.

The two features shown off in the new ads – Distraction Control and Intelligent Tracking Prevention – are also major benefits that Apple specifically uses to show an advantage over Chrome.
Distraction Control, for example, cuts out all of the noise you might encounter when scrolling through a webpage like offers, sign-up prompts, and even pop-up adverts — and the browser also remembers your preferences across webpages to create a seamless browsing experience.
Intelligent Tracking Prevention is also a big boost at a time when people are increasingly concerned about their privacy online, as it stops third-party trackers from logging your internet activity and selling that data to advertisers.
Should you pick Chrome or Safari?
Whether you opt for Chrome or Safari very much depends on the devices you have at your disposal, as if you only exist within the Apple ecosystem then the latter can be seen as a no-brainer of sorts.
There are reasons why you might want to stay with Chrome if you're already a dedicated user, but broadly Safari does most things better with a number of exclusive features to add to that, making it the preferable experience right now.

Much of this is down to how Safari has been specifically designed to work with Apple hardware in the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, as that's where it's able to get those performance advantages compared to something like Chrome which works across all devices.
On the other hand, if you have a mix of Apple and Windows or Android devices then sticking with Chrome might be something that's simply easier for you — although Apple does offer people like this the option to sync their bookmarks from another browser with Safari through iCloud for Windows.
