A popular iPhone app that used by millions could actually be rapidly draining your device’s battery.

With the latest smartphones, you can have everything you’d ever need at your fingertips.

However, with so much tech packed into our handheld devices, it can take its toll on the battery life.

But if you’ve felt like your iPhone battery is draining faster than normal, there is a simple trick you can implement to improve it.

And all it takes is to delete one app from your phone.

It turns out that the Chrome app is actually a battery drainer for the smartphone and switching to Safari could mean your phone lasts much longer between charges.

Users have taken to social media to seek advice on how to improve their phone’s battery life.

On Reddit, one user wrote: “Chrome is my preferred is my browser for pc but on iOS, it consumes a lot of battery. Is this the norm? I know it's a resource intensive browser but it's a bit much for 40% in 1hr 52 mins of use?”

Another user also had similar complaints, writing: “Off the charts battery consumption in the last days. Hello folks, chrome is my primary browser on iOS. I’ve got everything up to date. Reinstalled it. Rebooted. No tabs open.

“Still an insane amount of battery usage. Is anyone experiencing something similar? Any know workarounds?

“This started a few days ago. The one thing I did after reinstalling was enabling sync again. Will try stopping that now… it’s the only explanation I find.”

And a third user also added: “I’m a Chrome user, but I’ve seen some people complain that it’s a true battery drainer and it somehow doesn’t show in the battery analytics.

“Will the battery life improve if i use Safari? I assume yes, since Apple optimizes their software for the hardware, but will it make such a difference? I don’t have background refresh enabled btw.”

Offering advice, another replied with: “Chrome runs horrendously on iOS/Mac in my experience. It’s a real RAM hogger. Would definitely recommend that you switch to Safari.”

And a third person added: “I had a similar problem, I switched to the brave browser for iOS and the battery life has improved significantly.”

So, if you find that your phone battery is draining quickly, it might be worth checking which internet browser you’re using - and it could be time to switch it to Safari.
