Apple were anticipating the hype following its recent iOS 26 announcement, but one of its biggest reveals became derailed by a 'hilarious' YouTube thumbnail mishap, forcing the company to change things up to avoid any further embarrassment.
Liquid Glass has proven to be key to the iOS 26 visual overhaul that has caught the attention of many following Apple's WWDC conference event, as it introduces eye-catching translucent elements to the iPhone's central user interface.
Fans of the tech giant have called it the biggest visual overhaul that iPhones have experienced in over a decade, and it aims to line up with the augmented reality aesthetic of the Vision Pro VR headset.

However, Apple will no doubt have been disappointed and embarrassed to see the social media conversation surrounding this new feature focus on rather unfortunate design mistake, although there's no such thing as bad publicity after all!
People quickly noticed that the video Apple uploaded to YouTube showing off Liquid Glass as part of the iOS 26 presentation had a hilarious thumbnail, as the YouTube play button logo implanted onto the center of all thumbnails cut off a key part of the image in a mishap that even Mike Wazowski would be proud of.
Instead of reading 'Introducing Liquid Glass', the YouTube logo meant that the thumbnail now introduced 'Liquid ass' to the world in an image that only conjures up unpleasant toilet trips.

This was obviously shared by many on social media who couldn't resist the unintentionally juvenile humor, but this clearly made its way to the Apple offices as they've now remedied the video.

As shared on the r/iphone subreddit, the video's thumbnail has now been adjusted so that the 'Liquid Glass' text now sits entirely to the left of the YouTube logo, meaning that you can now read it all without any obstruction.
Apple will no doubt be disappointed that the new design isn't quite as seamless and intentionally designed as the original - especially as the color gradient that went across the original text isn't present anymore - but at least there's no more liquid ass.
"How didn't they notice that when making the thumbnail," questions one user in the comments underneath the post, and while YouTube doesn't show you the logo in any previews before the video goes live, you'd have to image that the design team would be experienced enough to take that into account.
Another added that Apple "take the joy out of life," whereas another hopes that this shows Apple is willing to listen to community feedback on the design of Liquid Glass itself.
