Fasting for a day and a half can understandably have a dramatic effect on your body, yet one shocking simulation reveals the 'full reset' that you undergo once you reach the 36-hour mark.

Simulations that show the inside of our bodies are often shocking, as they detail the gruesome reality of things like taking Ozempic and what happens to our bodies after we die.

They are as illuminating as they're often disgusting though, and one new output from Wellness Wide on YouTube gives an insight into the benefits of fasting, especially over longer periods of time.

Fasting is often a key part of many weight loss-based diets, from intermittent fasting to the famous keto diet, and this particular simulation shows the benefits of achieving what it calls a 'full reset' of your bodily systems after 36 hours.

The simulation breaks the lengthy process down into multiple steps, marked by the hour at which they are achieved.

First up is at just four hours, and that's when your body stops digesting food, insulin stops regulating your body sugar, and sugar stored in the body begins to burn for energy.

After eight hours, your blood sugar begins to drop and the body uses glycogen for energy this time around, but after this point is when the effects of fasting appear to truly accelerate.

12 hours seems to be a major turning point for the body, as the simulation describes it as the moment that 'fat burning begins'.

From here, your insulin decreases, causing you to 'shift into ketosis' - which can have some harmful effects itself as illustrated by another simulation.

Another key moment occurs just four hours later at the 16-hour mark, as that's when autophagy begins.

This is a cellular process where the body starts to 'recycle' unnecessary or damaged components, repurposing them to new components across the body, which can contribute to fat loss.

After an entire day of fasting, your body then reduces inflammation and improves insulin sensitivity, whereas at the 30 hour mark you're likely to experience a spike in growth hormones, which helps assist your muscles and accelerate fat loss.

The simulation then claims that at 36 hours, 'maximum autophagy' is achieved, which amounts to a clear out of dead cells, leading to regenerated tissue and a boosted metabolism. Ultimately, the simulation calls reaching this point a 'full reset', and it could be key to furthering fat loss in the long term.

"Fasting is the best medication not only for physical body but also emotional and spiritual wellbeing," writes one comment in support of the process, whereas another has added that "our bodies are miraculous. Nature is our true doctor."

Others have warned about the dangers of blindly following this process though, as a third comment indicates that you shouldn't "forget to sleep" as your "body won't heal until you sleep."

One key comment also explains how they "made the mistake of jumping into prolonged fasting too suddenly, which led to some complications," suggesting that while the process is beneficial, it's not something to go head first into without preparation.
