It's the most-watched event of the year, and while the viewing figures for 2026 aren't in just yet, there’s speculation that the Super Bowl LX halftime show could be the biggest of all time.
Few thought anything could top 2025's record-breaking turn with Kendrick Lamar, but with Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) taking to the stage, all eyes were on Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium.
Well, we say all eyes. In reality, Turning Point USA was trying to get people to tune in to its alternative halftime show.
Having previously performed alongside Shakira and Jennifer Lopez at Super Bowl LIV, Bad Bunny already knew the ropes. Fresh off his multiple-Grammy win, Ocasio seemed like the perfect person to lead the halftime show, although he's generated plenty of controversy due to speaking out about the situation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Bad Bunny isn't alone in his thoughts, joining the likes of Marvel's Mark Ruffalo, Billie Eilish, and Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito for condemning ICE.

All of the above have taken plenty of flak from the general public online, although other celebrities were similarly mocked by them. Taking to X, Jake Paul used his platform to attack Bad Bunny, referring to Bad Bunny's Puerto Rican heritage and branding him "a fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America."
Paul faced immediate backlash, with fan-favorite YouTuber JerryRigEverything managing to ratio him. Away from torching iPhones and building his own backyard bunker on his JerryRigEverything YouTube, Zack Nelson has been critical of the current administration.
In his takedown of Jake Paul, Nelson wrote: "Jake Paul calls Bad Bunny a 'fake American' for being born in Puerto Rico. Jake Paul currently lives in Puerto Rico to avoid paying American Taxes. You cant make this up."
Underneath, JerryRigEverything added: "Do you think it hurt more to get his jaw broke or ratioed twice in two days by a phone nerd?"
Although many cheered Nelson for standing up for Bad Bunny, you can imagine just how heated the replies got.
Slamming Paul, one person wrote, "Jake Paul got the crap beat out of him fighting a real boxer and is a massive, grifting hypocrite. A loser through and through," while criticizing Nelson, another said: "I bet he would slap the holy f**k out of you tho. We agree?"
As ever, the internet is divided by Jake Paul's musings, with some claiming Bad Bunny's halftime was the 'worst' ever, and others accusing his critics of being racist. Either way, TPUSA's alternative halftime show got just as much of a brushing down, with Kid Rock's performance being ridiculed for an apparent lip-sync fail.
With Bad Bunny getting megastars like Lady Gaga and Pedro Pascal up on stage with him, the official halftime show was at least an extravagant affair that's got everyone talking.
