Biohacker trying to 'live forever' reveals reason he will never do a cold plunge despite health benefits

Johnson explains that his body is 'cold plunging 24/7'

You might think that someone wanting to 'live forever' would be all over cold plunges, but infamous biohacker Bryan Johnson has explained why he never bothers despite the general health benefits.

If you're looking to improve your health then diving into a cold plunge is one of the best things you can do with otherwise minimal effort.

While the freezing temperatures might turn you off immediately, it's proven to have scientific benefits that include an improved mood, reduced inflammation, and enhanced circulation.

Upon reading that, you'd understand why someone like Bryan Johnson - who pays over $2,000,000 per year on experimental procedures in order to reverse the aging process - might be interested.

He's even gone as far to focus on de-aging his own penis through bizarre 'erection data', as Johnson claims it significantly reduces the risk of premature death.

However, you couldn't be more wrong, as Johnson has made it clear that he never takes the plunge despite it's clear benefits.

As revealed on his Project Blueprint website, he explains that: "Aside from the one time I tried it with my friend Steve Aoki, cold plunging is not part of my normal routine."

"Since starting Blueprint, my body temp has cooled 5⁰F in 3 yrs, now at 93.4⁰F. This technically qualifies as minor hypothermia. Following Blueprint has me metabolically cold plunging 24/7."

Johnson revealed this fact on a recent podcast episode with Logan Paul, outlining that reducing his internal body temperature five degrees below the average allows him to replicate the body science of animals that live far longer than humans.

As an equivalent, to achieve the same body temperature that Johnson has all of the time, you'd had to swim more than a mile in ice. For comparison, spending an hour in an average cold plunge would only reduce your temps by around 0.83⁰F.

You can see why shoving himself in an ice bath would be a bit redundant at this point though, but it's certainly not an easy job to achieve what Johnson has done to his body.

If you're wondering how he got there, it's a complex cocktail of lifestyle and dietary restrictions that most wouldn't be willing to follow. 10% calorie restrictions, a low-inflammation/high fiber diet, a 6 out eating window, and a temperature controlled mattress set to 70⁰F are just some of the strict measures, but for Johnson it's clearly worth it to follow as he aims to cheat the process of death.
