Horrifying GoPro footage shows what lies underneath a cruise ship.
Most cruise passengers are perfectly content not knowing what's swimming around beneath their floating hotel. But some people need answers to questions that probably shouldn't be asked.
Thanks to some fearless YouTubers, we now know what hides beneath piers, what lives in America's deepest caves, and what lurks in the world's most dangerous river - and we can't unsee any of it.

Now, one determined man decided to drop his GoPro over the side of a cruise ship to see exactly what was lurking in the depths of the sea.
While the ocean covers most of our planet, we've only explored less than 20% of it. Scientists are constantly discovering new species in the deep sea, and not all of them are the friendly and cute. One recent news story has experts investigating 'apocalypse' fish that washed up on shore.
That said, Odysseas Froilan, a photographer from Greece, decided he absolutely had to know what was happening in the waters below his cruise ship. So in 2021, he dropped his GoPro over the side and let it sink to the ocean floor.

On the YouTube video, the camera spins as it sinks through the water, capturing various fish swimming around it. Eventually, it comes to rest on the seabed right next to the ship's massive anchor.
During the day, you can see hundreds and hundreds of fish curiously investigating around the anchor area, and honestly, it's pretty peaceful.
But then the sun goes down.
The camera's night vision kicks in, turning everything into an eerie green-tinted darkness where you'd expect the Jaws theme tune to kick in.

Multiple sharks can be seen gliding past the camera throughout the night before disappearing back into the darkness.
People flooded the comments section with a mix of fascination and terror.
"I love how the fish immediately come to investigate what just dropped in the water," wrote one optimistic viewer.

Another social media user admitted: “The way I went from kicking my feet in the air at the cute fishies and thinking ‘maybe the ocean isn’t so scary after all’ in the day footage to blankly staring, terrified, at the night footage, further confirming my intense fear of the ocean.”
Someone else added: “This video is literally my biggest nightmare. Thank you for being able to experience it from a safe distance"
A fourth YouTuber user added: "I've always had a rational fear of cruise ship balconies, and now I will be certain to stay well away from the edge"
