An unlikely candidate for the next President of the United States has emerged, with DeAndre Cortez Way, aka Soulja Boy, announcing his plans to run for office. More than just dabbling in politics, like when Elon Musk headed up the Department of Government Efficiency, Soulja Boy has explained how he wants to run for President of the United States.
Donald Trump might've joked about going for a third term, but assuming this is his last time behind the Resolute Desk, the race to find our next president is heating up.
You might remember when Kanye West threw his name out there for POTUS, leading a chaotic 2020 campaign under the 'Birthday Party' and saying he'd make it everyone's birthday if he won.
Not content with getting zero electoral results, he returned for an even more disastrous try for the 2024 election, coinciding with a string of antisemitic remarks. Now, another rapper has stepped up to the plate.

Posting on Instagram on October 10, Soulja Boy spoke about a new chapter, a bigger vision, and "a commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation."
Outlining a focus on four things, Soulja vowed to turn his attention to "economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI."
Saying that he's always believed in thinking bigger and 'challenging what's possible', the artist says he’s "exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service" and concluded: "The future starts with a conversation. 🇺🇸."
There have been some unusual names thrown around when it comes to potential presidents from the world of pop culture and beyond, with Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson speaking out about a potential run. OpenAI's Sam Altman has also explained that while he once wanted to run for Governor of California (following in Arnold Schwarzenegger's footsteps), he never seriously considered being Commander-in-Chief.
In particular, Soula Boy's AI intentions are sure to spark a conversation.
It's no secret that the current administration is going all in on AI, with President Trump controversially saying people who don't want AI data centers in their neighborhood will "end up being backwards and poor." The president has continued to champion AI, even signing an executive order demanding that it be renamed as 'super intelligence'. The 47th President of the United States said that anyone who rejects calling it super intelligence should be branded as the 'enemy'.

As for Soulja Boy's political interests, he faced backlash when he performed at Trump's inauguration Crypto Ball alongside the likes of Rick Ross and Snoop Dogg. At the time, Soulja Boy brushed off his critics and said he was being paid well for the gig.
His Instagram post makes it unclear whether he's actually planning a presidential run or is just testing the waters, but it's fair to say opinions were split.
Replying to the post, one person called out his AI intentions and added: "How about we decentralize ai and encourage the human brain to create again, no?
Another simply asked: "What is this timeline?"
Hop-hop artist Big Venti threw his support behind Way as he concluded: "You got my vote Fam 💯🇺🇸."
While the notion of Soulja Boy being president might be ridiculous to some, we imagine people were equally baffled when Ronald Reagan announced his plans to go from Hollywood actor to President of the United States.
