Imagine trying to explain to people who lived 100 years ago that the next century would see TikTok stars, OnlyFans models, and YouTube creators become some of the highest earners around.
While we're sure there might be some confusion about traditional career paths being replaced by these online jobs, it's simply the way the world has gone.
The bubble might eventually burst, but for now, we can't move without stumbling over the likes of Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson, Tia "Bonnie Blue" Billinger, and IShowSpeed.
In particular, the adult entertainment scene has ballooned as Bonnie Blue has arguably led the way.

There's been a recent boom in younger models wanting to join Bonnie Blue, Sophie Rain, and Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa, with other members of the general public sharing concerns that performers Lil Tay and Piper Rockelle have signed up just after being legally allowed.
While Billinger has said she's not afraid of being replaced by artificial intelligence, this could be the least of her worries as US lawmakers threaten to introduce a new 'sin tax'.

Florida candidate James Fishback branded OnlyFans as an 'online degeneracy platform' to NRX studios, saying that he wants to impose a 50% tax on anyone who makes money off it and resides in the Sunshine State.

Making his stance clear, Fishback said: "It is called a 'sin tax' because it is a sin, number one, but the purpose of the sin tax in economics is to disincentivize and deter a behavior…
“And yes, as Florida governor, I don't want young women who could otherwise be mothers raising families, rearing children, I don't want them to be selling their bodies to sick men online."
Turning his attention to those who might be paying for this kind of content, Fishback added: "I don't want young, impressionable men who have strayed from Christ, who have strayed from our Lord and savior to be told, and to be drawn into lust, and have their entire brain rewired."
Having supposedly made $95 million between 2023 and 2025 thanks to OnlyFans, Rain clapped back to The New York Post and told the outlet exactly what she thinks about Fishback's proposal.

Also known for founding the Bop House collective that saw Rockelle find her feet in the adult entertainment industry, Rain referred to Fishback's plans as “the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard."
Standing defiant against the politician, Rain continued: "I pay my taxes — I’ve paid millions in taxes — and it’s just not logical."
“I was raised Christian my entire life and I went to church every Sunday, so I was taught to love thy neighbor.
“What he’s saying invalidates him as a Christian … he could’ve gone about it a better way than to call me a w—e and say I have a degenerate job."

Then responding to Rain's response, Fishback says she's 'p*ssed' at him because she'd owe him around $42 million in taxes.
Trying to garner support, Fishback maintains he'd use this hefty sum to increase teacher pay and improve school lunches.
Rain was joined by fellow OnlyFans creator Anya Lacey, who said she'd move from Florida if Fishback's taxes make it through: "I think it’s absolutely ridiculous, and it’s quite rich in a state where the city, Miami, was literally built off of cocaine money. And he’s calling it a ‘Sin Tax’ right."
Calling out other supposed vices, Lacey concluded: "I don’t really understand that, since we could call alcohol a sin, marijuana, strip clubs. Unless he’s ready to put a tax on anything that could be considered a sin, I think his proposal is absolutely ludicrous."

Fishback thinks Florida could earn an extra $200 milllion from OnlyFans performers in the state, although he's currently trailing far behind US Rep. Byron Donalds.
