Donald Trump shocked the nation when he claimed that popular pain medication Tylenol is linked to an increased risk of autism when taken during pregnancy, and the residents of one key town in New Jersey are particularly incensed by the allegations.

There have been a number of wild health related claims made by US President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy in the former's second term in office so far, including disturbing 'solutions' to worrying measles outbreaks and tragic axing of funding for potential cancer vaccines.

By far the most notable – and also potentially the most dangerous – came after an announcement Trump made at Charlie Kirk's memorial service, where the president claimed he would reveal the 'most important' medical announcement in the coming days.

That turned out to be an accusation that taking Tylenol, known around the world as paracetamol, during pregnancy increases the risk of autism, using allegedly lower or nonexistent rates of neurodivergent conditions in areas like Cuba or Amish communities as 'proof' of his claim.

Medical experts almost immediately refuted Trump's wild claims, asserting that there is no proof of any link between the consumption of acetaminophen – the primary active ingredient in Tylenol – during pregnancy and autism in children, branding the allegation both 'irresponsible' and harmful towards pregnant women.

Tylenol itself has since taken to Instagram to further dispel these claims, asserting that "credible, independent scientific data continues to show no proven link between taking acetaminophen and autism. Medical and public organizations agree."

As reported by the Daily Mail, one particular town boasting a population of just 23,000 people has taken particular issue with the Tylenol-linked accusations though, with many residents brutally calling out President Trump for his words.

The town in question is Summit, the northernmost city of Union County, New Jersey. It's recognized as one of America's wealthiest suburbs, and is home to the headquarters of Tylenol manufacturer Kenvue, as of March this year.

One journalist spoke to numerous residents to see what they thought of Trump's claims considering their close proximity to the pain-reducing medication, and they certainly didn't mince their words.

"I took a lot of Tylenol in my life," explained one 85-year-old resident who couldn't quite believe what the president had come out with. "Trump is full of s***," he proclaimed, before explaining how his wife took the medication while she was pregnant and their children turned out 'OK', in his own words.

Another doctor revealed that he found the news 'ridiculous', and he's certainly not the only one who was left stunned by what Trump came out with on Monday.
