Samsung introduces revolutionary AI phone with crazy capabilities

AI is a central part of Samsung's new Galaxy phones.

Samsung has finally taken the wraps off its gorgeous new handsets - the Galaxy S24 range.

There's the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra, each a little more expensive than the last - and all three look very sleek.

In fact, the standard S24 now looks as close to an iPhone as any Android phone we can think of, with almost identical squared-off corners, similar buttons and even antenna lines in similar spots.

The phones are available to buy from January 31, so they're right around the corner, and all feature the latest Snapdragon processor for super fast performance - a chip that's right at the beginning of its lifecycle, so should last for years to come.

This being 2024, though, it was artificial intelligence (AI) that took center stage for much of Samsung's presentation about the Galaxy S24 lineup, which will feature some pretty crazy AI options.

For example, they'll all be able to use Google's new Circle to Search feature. This lets you draw a circle around or tap on anything on your display to have Google search about it instantly - that could be a landmark in a video, or a piece of furniture you want to look up.

There will also be a new live translation feature that will let you talk to others via your phone for interpretation, and to instantly translate text messages you receive, too.

Plus, the camera experience is getting an AI infusion - there are new editing tools that are very similar to those seen in Google's latest Pixel phones, letting you touch up photos and even move subjects around in them. This should make it easy to change photos from nearly perfect to exactly as you imagined them.

Once you make an edit there will be a watermark to show the photo has been altered with AI, to make sure that people use the tools responsibly.

Plenty of tech reviewers and influencers have managed to get their hands on the phones already, giving us lots of first looks.

YouTube giant MKBHD has a nice detailed video covering all three models and going into those AI features really clearly, so it's a great place to start.

In the meantime, there are a couple of weeks to wait before the phones are available to buy.

The Galaxy S24 will start at $800 (£799), the S24+ at $1,000 (£999) and the top-end S24 Ultra starts at $1,300 (£1,249).
