There is a unique smartphone that does something really weird when it gets cold.

The Android phone seems to be making a big impression with its design.

Realme is a Chinese phone brand that is making waves with its unique features.

Unlike other smartphones on the market, this one has a rear panel with the capability to change its color according to the temperature.

On the Realme website, it explains: “It employs advanced thermochromic pigments that react to temperature changes. When the temperature drops below 16 degrees Centigrade (61 degrees Fahrenheit), the phone’s back cover transitions from pearl white to a vibrant blue, reversing as environmental temperatures rise.”

The phone company was apparently influenced by undersea creatures who are able to change their color depending on their environment.

The Pearl White color device even has a shell-like texture and pearl-like shine.

This color-changing feature is available with the Realme 14 Pro.

And not only is the feature unique, but each phone has been made to be one-of-a-kind.

So no matter which one you buy, it won’t be exactly the same as any other.

Chase Xu, who is the vice president and CMO of Realme, said: “Through our collaboration with Valeur Designers, the Realme 14 Pro Series 5G brings the aesthetics and functionality of our smartphones to new heights.

“We've fused cutting-edge tech, like the world's first cold-sensitive color-changing design, with unique aesthetics to create a smartphone that’s not just functional, but a true expression of personal style. We want to empower young people to dare to leap and showcase their individuality.”

The phone’s color-changing function works by using advanced thermochromic pigments which react to different fluctuations in temperature.

If the device falls below 16 degrees celsius (60.8 degrees fahrenheit), then the back cover will shift from pearl white to a vibrant blue.

According to the website: “Mimicking the transformative hues of deep-sea creatures like jellyfish, this interactive feature captures the ocean's mystique and adds a delightful ‘wow’ factor to the user experience.

“Inspired by the ocean's wonders, the Realme 14 Pro Series 5G introduces the ‘Unique Pearl Design’. This exclusive Pearl White variant features a natural, shell-like texture achieved with organic seashell powder, a slim sub-8mm quad-curved profile, and a glamorous, pearl-like luster.

Torsten Valeur, master designer and CEO of Valeur Designers, added: “Our collaboration with realme on the 14 Pro Series 5G showcases how innovative design can transform the user experience.

“We're thrilled to partner with such a forward-thinking and youthful brand to create designs that are both functional and delightful.”
