An AI CEO has issued a warning to anyone working certain jobs as an ‘employment crisis’ looms in the next five years.
The CEO of Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, has revealed that companies like his might need to be taxed as an incoming employment crisis threatens jobs.
However, Dario Amodei added that he doesn’t think ‘we can stop the AI bus’.

In an interview, the CEO said: “Entry level jobs in areas like finance, consulting, tech, many other areas like that, entry level white collar work, I worry that those things are gonna be first augmented, but before long, replaced by AI systems.
“We may indeed, it’s hard to predict the future, but we may indeed have a serious employment crisis on our hands and as the pipeline for this stage white collar work starts to contract and dry up.”

When asked what he believes the timeline is for these types of jobs to start drying up, Amodei continued: “I would not be surprised if somewhere between one and five years, we started to see big effects here.
“I’ve heard a number of people talk about this in private, AI CEOs talk about this in private, CEOs of other companies talk about this in private, and I really felt that the message that this is happening hasn’t been getting out to ordinary people, hasn’t been getting out to our legislators, our congress people either, so I felt I needed to speak up on the record.”
Many people took to social media to share their own thoughts on what Amodei was warning the public about.
On Reddit, one user wrote: “Dario has consistently been one of the most outspoken and valuable voices regarding AI’s impact on society and the economy. You can tell he genuinely cares about our civilization in its entirety rather than just protecting the 1%. We need more people like him.”

Another said: “It’s not in his best financial interest to say most stuff he’s said recently - that’s why I trust him. If someone hates him just because he’s a CEO or rich, that's a problem with that person’s brain.”
A third person commented: “Taxing AI companies might be a nice symbolic gesture but there is no way it would provide remotely enough revenue to pay for income replacement for billions of displaced workers.”
And a fourth added: “I honestly believe Dario is a good guy. His warning should be taken very seriously.”
