Dedicated fans have been studying the latest GTA 6 trailer for every possible detail, and they might have just spotted a hint that a major character from the Grand Theft Auto series is returning in the upcoming game.

There has already been plenty of speculation that old characters from the series will return in new forms, but fans might just have uncovered a hint that comes close to people's ideas about the game's twist ending.

People have so far used the jaw-dropping second trailer for GTA 6 to point out a major game-changing upgrade over its predecessor, and a bombshell announcement from developer Rockstar has given even more motivation to scour through every scene.

In doing this, keen-eyed individuals have somehow picked up a familiar film poster, spotted miraculously in the blurry background of one of the trailer's many graphically impressive moments.

As per u/Merstty on the r/GTA6 subreddit, it's highly likely that the film 'Meltdown' is being sold as a DVD in one of the shops in the new trailer, as you can seemingly see the film's red title and a man with his head in his hands.

While this might just seem like a very minor and subtle connection between the universe of GTA 6 and GTA 5, it could actually signal that one of the latter game's main characters is set to return due to his involvement in the film's production.

Michael De Santa - one part of GTA 5's trifecta of main characters - was an associate producer on Meltdown, and the film featured as a key part of several main missions during the game.

Of course, this could just be a nice nod to observant fans, but many in the thread are convinced that Michael will make an appearance in GTA 6 due to this reference.

"He could possibly show up for a mission or something, maybe he's making a movie or something there and needs Jason/Lucia to work as a fixer for him," speculates one user, with another arguing that they "could 100% see him getting some references or movie posters or maybe even an interview about one of his movies."

One commenter even writes that they "hope Michael makes an appearance as a Strangers and Freaks mission," and that would definitely be a welcome shock if you were going about your business only to run into a character you've spent hours playing as before.

This speculation has been brewing for a while though, and was particularly prompted after two of the three main voice actors for GTA 5 dropped a few hints of their own.

Speaking at a panel during Sci-Fi Valley Con last year, Ned Luke (Michael De Santa) and Shawn Fonteno (Franklin Clinton) had an intriguing answer when asked whether they'd be returning for the new game, as reported by The Pop Verse:

"We can tell you, but we would have to kill you, and we don't want you to die," joked Luke. Fonteno continued to clarify: "Even if I knew, I couldn't tell you guys. You know that, man. You know it's real strict. I hope so. I hope we're back. I hope the whole crew is back. I would hope so, but we've got not answers to it."

Whether you take that to be confirmation that they're in it or not depends on your level of optimism, but there's definitely smoke here and many fans are using that to increase their hype levels even more.
