The second trailer for the highly anticipated GTA 6 has finally dropped and fans are losing their minds over it.

Gamers have been waiting for the release of the sixth instalment of Grand Theft Auto since it was first announced back in February 2022.

The fifth version of the video game came out all the way back in September 2013 and fans hoped they would have the new edition in their hands by the end of this year.

In February this year, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive shared an official update to reassure fans after fears grew that the game could face delays.

At the time, it revealed that the game was still on track to be released in the autumn of 2025, with CEO Strauss Zelnick saying: “With development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment, just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases.”

However, the game has since faced delays in getting to the shelves.

Now, GTA 6 is expected to arrive next year with an official release date confirmed for May 26, 2026.

In what seems to be some sort of an apology to the hardcore fans who have been left gutted by the news, Rockstar Games has now dropped the second trailer for the game and it’s safe to say people are losing their minds over it.

The news has prompted people to take to social media to share their own reactions.

On X, formerly Twitter, one user wrote: “Releasing 3 years after the 1st trailer came out.”

Another said: “But why the f*** did you have to delay the launch till 2026?”

A third commented: “When will this be released? 2030?”

And a fourth person added: “Who the f*** cares about this the game drops in over a year still.”

However, not everyone was so dismissive of the new trailer.

Offering a more positive reaction, one user said: “Wow looks sick!”

Another wrote: “This is what I am talking about!”

And a third person shared: “Worth the wait tbh.”

So, what do we know about the storyline of the upcoming game? Here’s everything you need to know.

Who are the characters?

Fans caught a first glimpse of Lucia in the official trailer, which was released late last year.

Breaking with tradition, Lucia will be the first ever female protagonist in the game’s history.

While not much is known about her yet, she’s shown in the trailer wearing prison clothing, indicating that she’s found herself in trouble with the law.

An unnamed male is also shown in the clip who seems to be set to be a main character.

What is the storyline?

GTA 6 appears set to follow a Bonnie-and-Clyde-type couple who pull off robberies together.

It’s not yet known whether both characters will be playable but given the fact that they both make an appearance in the game’s title card, there’s a very good chance that they could be.
