Gamers point out shocking detail you might've missed in the new GTA 6 trailer

You really can't believe your eyes

Grand Theft Auto fans are known for having an eye for detail, and one keen member of the community has revealed a shocking detail you'll likely have missed from the new GTA 6 trailer.

Disappointment soon turned to elation when Rockstar Games followed up news of a delay with the long-awaited second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6. The gap between the first and most recent trailer had broken records, and gamers were beginning to grow restless - especially with rumors of a major price increase looming.

The new trailer certainly didn't disappoint, though, making many fans 'lose their minds' with excitement. Yet, a new announcement from the developers would shortly take hype levels through the roof.

Shortly after the trailer went live, Rockstar clarified that the footage "was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes."

The jaw-dropping visual quality of the trailer led many to write it off as an admittedly beautiful showcase of the game's world, but this 'insane' announcement exceeded all expectations for many, and perhaps even surpassed what's possible with photorealistic mods for its predecessor.

It wouldn't be the GTA community if they didn't go the extra mile with this information, as one keen-eyed Reddit user took it upon themselves to try to distinguish between 'gameplay' and 'cutscenes' by breaking each one down individually.

Shared by u/piemack on the r/GTA6 subreddit, they preface their video by stating that they "probably got a lot wrong," prompting other members of the community to share their own thoughts in the comments below.

By the end of the video, they had counted 26 cutscenes and 27 gameplay scenes, with one uncertain for the former and two for the latter. This matches up with Rockstar's own assertion that it would be comprised of 'equal parts', and many of the gameplay scenes are only distinguished by the way they're framed as opposed to any difference in visual quality.

They point out that some of the major tells of a gameplay scene include looped character animations, certain facial expressions, and first-person perspectives, but it goes to show how impressive GTA 6 is shaping up to be that these aren't easy to make clear.

"Pretty damn spot on for me," writes one comment praising u/piemack's efforts. "I think people are forgetting that gameplay doesn't need to have that classic 3rd person view.

“Rockstar is just manipulating the view to make it cinematic but we're getting some incredible gameplay footage here."

Another added that they were "so blown away that the crime scene Jason drives past towards the beginning is gameplay. That was my thinking after R* announced half was gameplay, but with everything happening it's incredibly we'll just be casually driving by scenes like that."

We'll only get a true sense of how on the money this particular dissection of the trailer is once Rockstar releases proper gameplay footage, but it's proven to be more than enough to tide people over for the time being.
