You've got to hand it to Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive, they sure know how to keep us on our toes when it comes to GTA 6. Some pretty substantial leaks ensured the world already knew about the game's existence long before it was officially confirmed, but it took until February 2022 for Rockstar to officially confirm the next chapter was in development.
It's hard to believe how far we've come from the top-down Grand Theft Auto from 1997, and while there are complaints that the gaps between games are becoming increasingly larger, GTA 6 is finally on the way.
Despite the disappointment that GTA 6 has been delayed until May 26, 2026, Rockstar has tried to make it up to us with the surprise drop of a second trailer. Well, it took you long enough. Up until now, we'd only had a single trailer in December 2023, meaning it was getting pretty hard to write GTA 6 articles with the same tired crop of screenshots.

While the first trailer focused on Lucia as the game's female protagonist, the second puts Jason in the spotlight. Set to The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together", we get surprise nods to returning characters, advanced weapon customization, hints at a new Spotify-inspired mechanic, the return of heists, and more.
It's a good job that GTA 6 has been delayed until next year because it'll probably take us that long to decipher everything that's in the latest trailer.
Speaking of which, the trailer is already continuing a long GTA tradition and is smashing YouTube records.

Over on Reddit, gamers had to put their jaws back in place after learning that the second GTA 6 trailer soared past one million likes in around 40 minutes.
It was trending at #1 on YouTube and comes after Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick explained why the team has been letting GTA 6 market itself.
Elsewhere, the Guinness World Records has also been keeping an eye on the trailer. The official X account wrote: "The most viewed videogame reveal on YouTube in 24 hours is Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 with 90,421,491 views, as of 5 December 2023. The clock has started..."
At the time of writing, the trailer has hit 63.3 million views after 20 hours, suggesting it probably won't pass the first trailer's record. Still, with that sitting at 254.4 million views after a year, there's a good chance the latest sneak peek could pass its overall views.

Given that we were so starved of GTA news, it's no surprise that the first trailer smashed past the record for most first-day views on a non-music video within 12 hours and became the most-liked game trailer with 12 million likes. The second trailer has already garnered 4.6 million likes, so we'll be keeping an eye on it like the Guinness World Records.
Then again, both GTA 6 trailers pale in comparison to the unexpected record holder, with a 2012 gameplay trailer from Subway Surfers boasting a whopping 361 million views.
With GTA 6's release still a year away, expect plenty more details to come out, although don't hold your breath for a third trailer.
