The Google Pixel Watch has a unique life-saving feature that Apple is yet to match.

Google fans rejoiced with the release of the third installment of the Pixel Watch earlier this year.

The smart watch comes with many upgraded features but one is set to be a real life-saver.

Unlike any other watch on the market, the Google Pixel Watch 3 has the ability to get its owner medical help when it notices a loss of pulse.

According to Google: “Loss of pulse can occur from a variety of causes including, but not limited to, cardiac arrest, respiratory or circulatory failure, overdose, or poisoning.”

When someone experiences a medical emergency like this, every second counts.

For a lot of people in this situation, they usually rely on a bystander to call for help but many experience it when there is no one around to raise the alarm for them.

The tech giant has said that over 50% of people who suffer an event involving a loss of their pulse experience it with no one else around, which makes it basically impossible for them to survive.

The Loss of Pulse Detection can potentially save vital time by calling emergency services for its owner to get help as quickly as possible.

How does the Loss of Pulse Detection feature work?

The feature uses sensors on the watch, along with AI and signal-processing algorithms.

Together, these functions work to detect a loss of pulse from the wearer.

While a green light is used to check for a pulse with the watch’s heart rate sensor, if no pulse is found then a red light is turned on to look for any additional signs.

A motion monitor then also begins to search for any sign of movement.

If nothing is found, this will trigger a check-in which will ask if you’re okay.

If you don’t respond and movement still isn’t detected then an alarm will sound with a countdown.

After that, the watch will call emergency services, leaving them an automated message with your location.

While it isn’t fool-proof, the company hopes that its new feature will save lives.

Google said: “We hope this can be an airbag moment or smoke detector moment — something that can become standard to help keep us safe when life may bring the unexpected.”

The new innovation is the first of its kind and the Google Pixel Watch 3 is available to purchase for $329.99.
