The only smartphone for 'true Americans' might not even be that anymore, as Donald Trump has made a surprise (albeit not unexpected) change to the listing of the 'T1 Phone' that was supposed to rival the iPhone.
Between hotels, steaks, social media, and even sneakers, there's little you can buy without having some form of Trump-branded option for those who find themselves devoted to the current President of the United States.
One major new entry to the Trump Organization's business ventures is telecommunications company 'Trump Mobile', and a new golden iPhone rival in the form of the 'T1 Phone'.

While the prices of both products have left many shocked, if not just because of an unsubtle nod, a recent change to the latter gadget's website listing has challenged what many flocked to the device in the first place for.
Complete with a Star-Spangled Banner on the back and Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan across the lock screen wallpaper, the T1 Phone positively screamed American, which was no doubt by design.
One of the device's biggest selling points wasn't just that it was 'made for Real Americans' - whatever that actually means - but that it was manufactured on American soil and with American parts - something few to no other smartphone brands can say for their own products.

This came especially in response to Trump's 'Liberation Day' tariffs earlier this year, which encouraged many businesses to move their production lines to the United States with heavy import charges. Still, tech giants like Apple simply moved from China to India.
However, a subtle wording change has been spotted by The Verge on the Trump Mobile website that appears to make it clear now that T1 Phones won't be made in the USA. It's seemingly both from a parts and production standpoint.
First and foremost, it appears as if all mentions of 'Made in the USA' have been scrubbed from the Trump mobile website, including a huge banner that was previously proudly declaring the phone's American-made status.

Furthermore, the T1 Mobile is now supported by vague language that simply highlights its mystical 'American' feel, with the new tagline boasting that the device is "Premium Performance. Proudly American."
It also illustrates that there will be "American hands behind every device" - perhaps indicating the user itself - and that the phone has been "designed with American values in mind," but those seemingly don't extend to the manufacturing process.
Specification for the phone has also changed to the surprise of many, as not only has the date been extended from August to just 'later this year', but the 6.78-inch screen has now been downgraded to 6.25 inches, and the mentions of 12GB RAM have disappeared.

Some journalists have already had a terrible experience when simply trying to buy the phone, having been incorrectly charged and met with countless error pages, and these new developments will perhaps only continue to cast doubt over the minds of even hardcore Trump fans as to what they're buying.
