MOVA, a company boasting a number of AI-powered smart home solutions, has just announced a new robot vacuum with 'electronic skin'.
Apparently, its 128 sensors allow the intelligent cleaning gadget to 'feel' your furniture as it makes its way around your home.
While robot vacuums have been around for a few decades now, it appears as if the technology only continues to improve with new innovations — and AI is only going to bring benefits to the field.
Not only can the revolutionary software help the gadget better map your home for a more efficient and thorough clean, but it also provides options that improve the process overall.

One key new innovation comes in the form of 'electronic skin', as this seemingly introduces a new 'sense' entirely to the robotic vacuum, allowing it to feel its way through your home as it cleans.
What is electronic skin?

As reported by Tech Guide, MOVA recently revealed at the IFA Show in Berlin its new electronic skin technology, introducing it as a key part of what it is calling 'the AI MOVAment' across its line-up.
This electronic skin comes in the form of a new 'TactiPercept' system, combining visual recognition through cameras placed across the robot with 128 individual pressure sensors.
Using a flexible cushioning structure and real-time pressure feedback alongside this, the robot vacuum is able to better detect contact with any walls, furniture, or other floor-bound items in your home by 'touching' them with its 'skin'.
Once contact is initiated, the robot is designed to slow down to safely navigate the space while not compromising its cleaning along the edges, as other robot vacuums might avoid areas entirely if there is a risk of collision.
MOVA innovates with pool cleaning and lawn mowing robots

Electronic skin is not the only innovation that MOVA is bringing to the table with its new announcements, as it has also introduced a new swimming pool-cleaning robot and major upgrades to its lawn mowing tool that offer no compromises on the edge of the grass.
The company's robotic pool cleaners are now equipped with enhanced connectivity services, letting you access real-time updates on the progress of the clean, alongside giving you better control over the device while it's doing its job.
Additionally, the introduction of 'Ultra Trim' technology in the robotic lawn mowers boasts the ability to get precise down to the very last centimeter, adding a dedicated edge-cutting disc on the right side of the device.
