President Donald Trump does much more than just lead the United States, and with him having his hand in everything from real estate to meme coins, he's even had an airport named after him.
When not threatening to have whole oceans renamed in his honor, the President of the United States has used The Trump Organization to launch the $749 T1 'Trump Phone'.
More than just the fact that the T1 was originally slated to cost $499 instead of its hiked price, Donald Trump's Trump Phone has raised eyebrows because of where it's made.

What is the T1 Trump Phone?
The T1 was initially sold and marketed as "proudly designed and built in the United States,” but when that claim was questioned in a matter of weeks, the website's wording was quickly changed to say the phone is “designed with American values in mind” and “shaped by American innovation.”

There’s the caveat that it’s had “American teams helping guide design and quality."
Despite its patriotic gold coloring and American flag, the T1 has since been called out over supposed AI imagery, while some went even further to brand the Trump Phone a scam.
While it's true that the T1 is now in people's hands, beloved YouTuber Zack "JerryRigEverything" Nelson has called out the phone's 'MADE IN AMERICA' credentials.
What did JerryRigEverything discover about the Trump Phone?
The fact that the Trump Phone has shipped debunks those fears that it's not a real thing, but as JerryRigEverything peeled back the layers, he was surprised to learn the $749 T1 looks a little familiar.
In a video that's been viewed 4.4 million times, Nelson took the POTUS to task and said he wanted to find out whether the T1 is an investment in American manufacturing and values or where it's "just a quick cash grab to increase his personal wealth, while riding the coattails of a previously prestigious position, while simultaneously grasping at all remaining straws to remain relevant in his final days in office."
As you can tell, Nelson isn't the biggest fan of President Trump, but by lifting the lid on the T1, he seemingly exposed that it's little more than a dyed HTC U24 Pro. That phone was released in 2024 and built in China, which seemingly goes against the Trump Phone's all-American stance.

Nelson immediately spotted that it looked like the Taiwanese-designed and Chinese-manufactured smartphone, noting it has the same size, display resolution, and 120 Hz refresh rate as the HTC U24.
The same 50-megapixel cameras, headphone jack, and microSD card slots were all giveaways, but after taking the T1 apart, Nelson clarified both devices have the same inner layout in terms of motherboard and cooling system.
Joking about the whole debacle, Nelson chuckled: “If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's probably just a spray-painted gold HTC U24 Pro."
