The beta version of Apple’s new operating system is finally here and you could be one of the first to try out their new features.

The introduction of Apple Intelligence was an exciting announcement from the tech firm as part of their unveiling of iOS 18.

iPhone fans have been excited to try the updated functions for themselves and here’s how to do it.

Earlier this week, Apple released its first developer beta for iOS 18.1, which includes Apple Intelligence and other new AI features.

Apple Intelligence can be used for things like proofreading emails, summarizing articles, and analyzing your audio transcripts.

Siri will also now become the ultimate pocket-sized AI tool.

What do you need to access the developer beta?

To access the new iOS 18.1 developer beta, here’s what you need to do.

First of all, you’re going to need an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max because those are the only models that iOS18.1 will run on.

It’s best to update your phone before downloading the beta.

Better to be safe than sorry, it’s also a good idea to back up the important things on your phone beforehand.

How can you download iOS 18.1?

Follow this step-by-step guide to get the free version of the iOS 18.1 beta:

  1. On the Apple Developer website, click the three-dash menu in the top left corner of the screen and from the options, hit “Account”.
  2. Sign in using your Apple ID.
  3. Read the agreement, click the boxes and press “Submit”.

Once you’ve got it downloaded, you’ll need to join the waitlist to access Apple Intelligence.

In order to do this, go to “Settings” on your phone and click “Apple Intelligence & Siri”.

From there, you’ll be able to hit “Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist” before clicking “Join Waitlist”.

Typically, it only takes from a few minutes to a few hours for the feature to be added to your phone.

Why shouldn't you download iOS 18.1?

However, the developer beta isn’t for everyone and it’s important to know all the facts before clicking download.

This version of the operating system isn’t available yet to the general public, it’s a trial version designed for people to test out and see how it works.

This means that there might be bugs attached to the download that could cause glitches and other problems for your phone.

This could affect the performance of your device and even lead to damaging your battery life.

The rollout of iOS 18 is set to begin in the fall but if you can’t wait that long, the beta version is ready to try out now.
