Millions of iPhone users set to finally get camera roll feature they've wanted for years
If you have ever opened the Photos app in your iPhone and wondered why finding the pictures you’ve actually taken feels unnecessarily difficult, Apple might finally have the answer.
It comes in the form of a new camera roll feature that Apple fans have been crying out for for years.
Now, millions of iPhone users will be able to make the most out of the handy change that is coming with the highly anticipated iOS 27.
There is already plenty happening in Apple’s next major iPhone update and iOS 27 is set to introduce a more capable, contextual Siri, which is integrated with AI, as well as redesigned icons, and new photo editing tools.

And the tech giant is also bringing in a feature known as Captured by Me, as reported by 9to5Mac.
How does the new Apple Photos app feature work?
So, what does the new feature actually do? Well, Captured by Me creates a dedicated view that shows all of the photos and videos you have personally taken using your iPhone’s camera.
That means the section won’t be full of screenshots, images you’ve downloaded or pictures someone has sent you in a group chat.
The feature can be found under the Utilities section of the Photos app, where it gives you a straightforward way to see the content you have actually captured yourself.
While it is a relatively simple addition, it’s set to be so useful for users that you might be left wondering why it wasn’t already there to begin with.
When will the new iOS 27 launch?
Apple has not yet confirmed a date for the release of iOS 27 but fans are anticipating it to drop in early September, as per the company’s usual schedule.
With this operating system update will come the newly revamped Siri AI, which Apple has described as a ‘profoundly more capable and conversational assistant with personal context understanding, broad world knowledge, and onscreen awareness’.
On the Apple website, it states: “Siri AI also includes a dedicated app for users to revisit conversations across their products, an expanded Visual Intelligence experience, and integrated tools for writing.
“With a bold new architecture uniquely designed to protect users’ privacy, Siri AI leverages the next generation of Apple Intelligence to bring state-of-the-art understanding and reasoning, along with powerful system-wide capabilities, to Apple’s operating systems. These features are available for developer testing starting today, and will be available as a beta to users later this year.”
