iPhone users rave about 'best' camera feature on iOS 27 but Samsung fans say they've had it for years

Earlier this week, Apple officially released its new operating system upgrade known as iOS 27 after first announcing it back in June.

With earlier beta versions previously being made available, the new iOS was dropped by Apple on Monday (September 14).

Now, fans have been getting to grips with the new features that iOS 27 has to offer, with iPhone users raving about a particular camera feature some are labeling as being the ‘best’.

However, Samsung users have hit back to argue that this is a feature they have had access to for years before Apple finally caught up.

This comes after one iPhone user took to social media to share their own experience with iOS 27, writing on X, formerly Twitter: “This is the best feature from IOS 27. Apple ate with this one.”

Along with the tweet, the user shared a screenshot which showed the option on their camera roll to ‘Save Video Frame as Photo’.

This feature works as a better alternative to screenshotting a video, which usually means that the image comes out with lower resolution. Instead, this allows you to save a photo from a video frame without the need to crop or screengrab.

This is something Samsung first introduced over a decade ago as its ‘Frame Capture’ button, and have since evolved the technology over the years.

The tweet prompted many people to take to the comment section to share their own reactions, with one user writing: “Apple really cooked with this update, easily one of the highlights. “

Another said: “Lol even my s10 been doing this since 2019.”

And a third person commented: “But Samsung has been doing this for the longest.”

Apple releases first foldable phone seven years after Samsung

This isn’t the first time Apple has been accused of introducing a product years after Samsung has, with a recent example being the new iPhone Duo

The device marks the tech giant’s first foldable phone, a feat Samsung first achieved back in 2019.

And the firms appear to be working together on the iPhone Duo after it was revealed that Samsung Display signed an exclusive agreement to supply display panels for the phone.

It has been reported that Apple will be paying Samsung Display a whopping $250 for each panel the firm orders, according to Instant Digital, which will be factored into the iPhone Duo’s hefty price tag starting from $1,999.

Apple’s folding phone is also considered to be the first phone to include Samsung’s M16 OLED material set, as per MacRumors.

The iPhone Duo’s thin screen layer has been innovated to minimize the visibility of a crease along the screen where it folds, and when unfolded, will be their thinnest model yet.

The hinge has also been engineered to support the device, with Apple stating: “The central structural plane has support ribs for added stiffness. To make the frame even more rigid, the antenna splits are reinforced with high performance inserts. They’re made from ceramic fibers that are three times stronger than grade five titanium. Together these structural details make iPhone Duo feel exceptionally solid every time you use it.”

Pre-orders for the phone will begin in October, with the iPhone Duo expected to be released later next month.
