Over the past few weeks, Apple has released both products and software updates galore.

Last Friday (September 20), the tech firm released the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, alongside new versions of the Apple Watch and AirPods and new colors of Airpods Max.

And, days earlier, they launched their iOS 18 systems upgrade, which includes updates to existing apps, alongside a number of new features for users to enjoy.

But, Apple's new releases haven't come without a few hitches along the way.

A user who'd recently downloaded the iOS 18 update took to Reddit to share their frustration.

In the site's r/iOS thread, they wrote: "I recently updated to iOS 18 and have since been experiencing an issue where all buttons or listed items in apps suddenly become untappable.

"Scrolling around in the app continues to work without lagging or anything, but I just can’t tap anything until I close and re-open the app I’m using.

"I’m not sure if I have restarted my phone since updating until just now, but will see if that helps," they added. "I’m just wondering if anybody else has seen this happening."

And if the comments are anything to go by, this seems to be a widespread issue.

One person replied: "Omg yes," while another called iOS 18 'the glitchiest update so far.'

Another shared: "Reddit does this. Can’t tap on threads until I close the app and try again."

A fourth person said: "All the time. I’m on a 14 Pro Max and just randomly taps don’t register. For like as long as a minute. I have restored my phone to see if it would fix but nope."

And a fifth claimed issues with the new system caused them to return their new iPhone 16, writing: "Yeah, iOS 18 on iPhone 16 Pro was rough for me. I sent the phone back. I’ll stick with my 14 Pro."

And untappable app features hasn't been the only problem those who've downloaded the new operating system have faced.

Disgruntled users have also been complaining about iOS 18 destroying their phone's battery health.

One X (formerly Twitter) user warned: "DO NOT update ur phone to iOS 18 my f***ing battery is draining so fast bro."

But people who've noticed their battery life has decreased have been told not to panic.

According to Apple, your iPhone just needs a few days after installing the update to recalibrate then should go back to operating normally.
