If you've got money to burn and nowhere to put your iPhone then you might be one of the very few people that Apple's new product suits perfectly, yet it's left everyone else in a fit of rage with the company's latest $230 accessory branded 'absolute b*******'.

It's safe to say that Apple has a reputation for releasing unnecessary and often overpriced accessories for products that many deem to be already on the expensive side of things.

Wheels for your Mac Pro that genuinely cost more than a new set for your car, the ever-painful experience of having to buy a new first-party charger, or a crossbody strap that's simply costs way more than anyone could ever justify.

Somehow though Apple has taken it up another level with its latest release, as a brand new wearable 'pocket' for your iPhone has unleashed an unrelenting fury across social media, with people unable to comprehend quite how much it's being sold for.

Announced officially on Tuesday (November 11), the new iPhone Pocket boasts a collaboration between Apple and celebrated fashion designer Issey Miyake, working as a hybrid storage solution for your gadget when you're out and about.

"Inspired by the concept of 'a piece of cloth', its singular 3D-knitted construction is designed to fit any iPhone as well as all pocketable items," explains the press release from Apple, adding that the "iPhone Pocket can be worn in a variety of ways — handheld, tied onto bags, or worn directly on the body."

It's certainly an attractive proposition for anyone who hates having their phone weighing their pockets down – or for outfits that don't boast pockets full stop – but at the same time don't want to take a bigger bag with them.

You might not necessarily be a huge fan of the design or see the practicality for your own use, but the biggest black mark on this particular release is the price, as it's retailing at a jaw-dropping $230.

Notable tech expert and YouTube sensation Marques Brownlee remarked on X that the new iPhone Pocket "feels like a litmus test for people who will buy/defend anything Apple releases," and that certainly rings true, even for the 'shorter strap' version which is at a 'cheaper' price point of $149.95.

"This is criminal," added another user in a Reddit thread responding to the news, adding that "whoever is dumb enough to spend this kind of money on this nonsense deserves to get ripped off."

One comment even remarked that they had to double check that it wasn't April 1st, or that they were actually viewing the official Apple domain, purely to "somehow get an indication that this is just a joke — because it surely is, right?"

Unfortunately it is a completely real product that you'll soon be able to get your hands on if you've go the money to burn, but one thing that's for certain is this isn't the first accessory Apple has released to fan anger, and it most definitely won't be the last either.
